Hi

I am in a remote town called Perth in Western Australia.

I've put down a deposit on an AXIS that is being complied right now in Sydney. The car is due to hit the yard in a few days.

I'm calling any experienced M35 owners to do a visual inspection + test drive for me to check the car is A1 as the salesman says. I am willing to pay for your petrol and lunch!

The yard is ALLIMPORTS, does anyone have experience with them?

What is the best independant inspection company out there? NRMA?

I'm hoping to not have to fly to sydney to save $ and I dont enjoy the long flight 4-5 hrs.

Feel free to email me [email protected].

cheers

Wil

Hi Wil

I would love to help but I don't have any time available at the moment to inspect it for you.

I am not sure NRMA do inspections any more. I used Road Check to do my inspection but it is hard for these companies that do not know the car to do the inspection.

I think you are on the right path here if you can find someone in Sydney to inspect it for you as long as they are aware of all the potential problems on a M35.

Check

- turbo performance.

- radio/cd function. (very expensive to repair if the CD fails)

- suspension is known to get soft with low k's but I believe the Axis is much better on suspension.

The rest of the inspection is relatively minor but they look to see that the factory recalls were carried out (shown by small silver stickers on the right wheel arch under the bonnet)

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Andy

champagne colour? looks like silver to me! lol

anyway, the car looks good, 48000 km is also good. easy to verify tho.

i tell you what, if i get a new job and i quit this one in the next few days, i can go check it out for you mid next week when its back in the yard.

ill PM you some details mate. any idea on where its being complied??

Yeah its definitely silver! I hope its condition lives up to it's kms'! What do u reckon of the price they are gonna give it to me 25.5k which includes a $1500 transport fee to perth + 3 yr warranty.

Cool good luck with your job situation!

I just rang the guy, I got my wires crossed. The car is at customs now, arriving at the yard early next week then off to get complied. Luca said you can see it before it gets complied. Finding out where it's gonna be complied now... does it make a difference where?

He said it was bought off a private yard in japan so no auction report.

If you have a digital camera and can take pics of every angle of the car i'd be very grateful!

cheers

might have to get someone else to look at it next weekend then, sorry but ill be away!

doesnt matter really where its being complied, and that price is pretty damn good for an AXIS, this time last year they were all over $30k!!

im sure whoever goes to check it out will be happy to take pics!

that cars seat looks abit too old to be 48K kms

looks more like 100K kms

Just be carefull of imports most of them have woundback kms

Agreed.

My seats are in better condition than that & mine has just over 150,000km's on the clock.

Damn yeah i thought the front seat looked a bit dirty but i wasnt sure if it was just a bad quality picture.

Is it really that easy to wind them back, especially digital? I guess the dash is interchangable.

He said it would be in the yard by about next tuesday, can ya still make it?

I think the seats look dirty because of the shade in the shot. I thought the same thing at first and then had a look again and they seamed ok.

With the compliance, if you can get them to use North Shore Prestige as he does a very good job.

I recently saw a M35 complied by one company, and when they put in the mounts for the baby seats, they drilled straight through the car to the outside and used a bracket on the outside of the car. It is not easily visible as it is hidden by the dust cover at the top of the tail gate but it leaked lots of water and looked very poor. To top it off they mounted the brackets on the removable trim at the top of the boot opening and put these huge holes through the plastic cover and it cracked when they tightened them up. It was the worst compliance job I have seen and ruined a really well specked car.

North Shore Prestige put the baby seat mounts in front of this trim and it is very neat.

Good luck.

Awesome price for an Axis dude!

Could possibly hit them up for a bit better price on car transport though.... Ive sent a stag from perth to adelaide for alot less and from brisbane to adlelaide for alot less. Do your research get some qoutes for door to door transport and then give them a bell with your findings...

AutoTrans are the company you want to deal with

that price INCLUDES the delivery cost

even WITH delivery, thats a good price!

but looking at ARXs being low 20s and RS/RX in the high teens, thats probably on par with the current market............

I'll be sure to ask them to send it to north shore prestige thanks for the advice!

Yeah its not a bad price... ARX is much better value though all the same except front & rear bar and suspension. Both come with 18" rims. I'm just addicted to the pimp front bar on the axis.

Not quite the same. No LSD on the Axis.

+1 for Northshore.

My car was complied and bought through Northshore Prestige over 2 years ago and whilst it came with Halogen globes in the headlights, all of the Xenon gear was in there and just needed to be re-crimped which was as easy as it gets

I do believe that their cars all have working Xenon's after compliance now.

Fantastic customer service too!

Andy, that sounds like to poorest excuse of compliance "workmanship"... Guys that cut corners like that deserve to go out of business.

100% agree.

    • Ah yeah I forget we aren't talking about an RB.
    • Fellow ADHDer to fellow ADHDer; Don't chase that paint perfection. Paint the bumpers, and put them on.  Leave the respray for another day. Plus, no one is going to see those old areas above. Any spots of surface rust, give them a clean up, prime, then hit with a white paint just to protect them from rusting. Again, no one can see it.   #Mine hasn't been on the road since 2011 cause ADHD... I've slowly learned not to keep f**king with shit if I don't need to...
    • That would be interested if it's the case as seems like it would make the job a lot messier but subaru sells OEM gaskets so seems it might of had it.
    • Fuel tank is out. Looks pretty bloody good under (ie above) the fuel tank.  Amazing how good the factory e-coat holds up in the hidden areas.  No where near as much body deadener to get rid of as the front but still not looking forward to it!  Shit of a job.  I'm thinking I might grab a needle scaler and give that a go before I attack it with the angle grinder and wire wheel which is how I did the front 2/3's of the car.  Feels good to be working on the car again but who knows how long it will last!  Hopefully I can get it further forward than where it was prior to this last block of work when I decided to go back 10 steps further down the rabbit hole from where i already was! The problem is, I'm realising how hard it will be to repair and paint the bumpers, which cannot be put back on the car, and have a good paint match. There are also areas where it would be VERY hard to hide the new paint where it transitions from old paint. Like this- There is only one way to do that perfectly and I really dont want to have to do what that means I would have to do... 🤦‍♂️
    • Pretty sure the factory assembly doesn't have any gasket at all, just RTV.
