I've had my r32 GTR for nearly a week now and i'm still getting to know the ins and outs of it. I've just managed to get the boost gauges working and have discovered that the car is running with 13 psi boost. The guy I bought it off said that it had standard turbo's running standard boost. I've searched all over the engine bay and I can't see any sign of a boost controller or bleed valve. I had a look at the turbo's and they have got Garrett on them. Am I right in thinking that standard turbo's are IHI jobbies?

The car has a full aftermarket exhaust system including hi flow cat and pod filters. Does this amount of boost sound right with these mods without the use of a controller/bleed valve? How many different model Garrett turbo's are there for the gtr?

Where's the restrictor and how can I tell if its been removed?

On the driver's side suspension tower, you'll see 2 small black hoses going into a silver cylindrical gadget.

On one of the hoses there may be yellow band, this is where the restrictor is placed. Whoever did the job may have just cut the restrictor out instead of kneading it out, so you may not have the yellow band.

In any event, this is where it goes.

Yeah I've seen this. If thats the case then the restrictor is still there.

Squeeze the band to see if there's a solid brass ring in it. The band may be there but the restictor may also have been removed.
