ok like i said case scenario..

im going to the track for some hot laps in mild gts-t.. :O

i have 2 sets of wheels and i want some semi slicks

i have r32 rims standard 16x7 (or is it 6.5)

enkei racing (those old school 5 spokes) 17x8 & 17x9

semi-slick tyres for these are much more expensive than the 16s

are they gunna give that much (if any) extra grip to warrant the expense or am i better of running the 16s

plus with 16s universal size i can swap them front to back , seeing as the front camber tends to wear them quickly

in semi slick tyres the side walls are very stiff. normally you might hear people talk about larger wheels leading to better handling but its just not an issue with semi slicks.

so....considering how much more expensive they are in larger wheel sizes (no idea why), just run the smallest wheels you can and get cheap tyres.

the only limiting factor to consider is if you want to run aftermarket brakes, you can't fit much bigger than 296mm in most 16" wheels, about 330mm in most 17" wheels and about 355 in 18" wheels
