Hey all. I use my stagea as a work bus (I'm a surveyor) and need a bit more ground clearance (and some more rubber between the road and rims than the 225/45/17's give me).

Anyone here know the best way I can lift my stag say 2 inches or so?

Oh, BTW it's a series 2 RS Four S if that makes any difference.

Cheers.

In most places, raising the suspension is illegal. That's not to say it can't be done, I think long-stroke shocks will be the hardest item to find.

But your best bet would be to get an AR-X...

you could always get spacers made up for the shocks, similar to spacer plates you can get to run s13 rear coilovers in an s14 (to accomodate different strut lengths)

you bolt them to the top of the strut and then that gets bolted into the car - this means that you can keep your standard struts etc as you aren't changing lengths of anything but i'm not sure how it would change the rest of your suspension geometry lifting the chassis

My stag is taller than the standard ,I recon it was a nismo option...but not sure(the shockers are nismo)...

Cool, I thought mine was the only SUV-spec' series 2 !

But that is the way it came too. My shocks aren't Nismo, just black body. Felt pretty new when I got it... they feel a bit worn now though.

They all look stock height to me. Measure the distance between the wheel centre & the guard lip (vertically) and post the numbers.

I can't remember exactly what it was (posted it when I got my rims on) so measured it again...

fronts ~390mm, rears ~400mm

swap your hicas rack for a s2 r33 25t one before you rip the dumf*kcntboxhole stagea one off the subframe . or jus get a lock bar

Do all S2 S's (manuals) have HICAS?

EDIT: By 'SUV spec' I don't mean an 'official' factory option... that is just what I think it looks like now that it has 17" rims on it with slightly greater overall diameter... sits about half an inch or so higher off the ground than stock... and stock it was high! btw, I read that there was an actual "SUV variant" which had higher suspension... can't remember where I read it though.

gee u must be goin to some wild places in your stag if u need to lift it. i work in earthmoving and ive taken my stag to places most cars could never reach. and that was with stock suspension. heres a pic of one of my many wet weather rally excursions.

It is not illegal to lift a car. It is illegal to lift OR lower a car by more than 50mm, however.

I would look into getting some firmer and taller springs. Most spring places will custom make springs for you to suit your shock stroke, vehicle height and the potential height increase you will be able to acheive. You may be able to use springs from another vehicle to suit your needs.

With my old Subaru I used Commodore springs in the front to lift it 1.5" over stock.

Will lifting the car by tallers springs and or shocks have some impact on the rear rack?

Nearly the same meassurement but other way round 395mm at the front ,390 mm at the back, with 235/45 17" (from center of the wheel to fender)

Most stageas lower point is the cat converter and some manual/rwd is the hicas rack (seen pics is nearly hanging under rear drive train)

+ depends of the slops that you pass (ie. step driveways)...front is long so Dayz edition fronts are prone to rub They are a bit squarish at the botton) and cannon mufflers seet lower at the back than stock ...

haha same here. but i dont drive the stagea to work. inside gets too dirty to fast !

I second the cat' being the lowest point on the car; it definitely is on mine (no HICAS for me ). ATTESA makes off-roading more feasible in the stagea than your regular 2WD family wagon (especially if said wagon happens to be FWD). I know on the odd camping trip I haven't minded parking it in the soft stuff knowing that I'll just be able to drive straight out in the morning. Has got me wondering though, does ATTESA work in reverse?? lol

this thread reminded me of when i took my s1 stagea on to the beach at geraldton..

it was like a snow plow in the deep ruts but she never got boged. was priceless to see the amazed faces :D of all the 4wd owners as they drove past.

had stock suspension but low profiles on a set of 17s

    • Racetronix also sells those ethanol content sensor bypass blocks. Adapter, Flex-Fuel E85 Sensor High-Flow Bypass, In-line No Sensor (ADF-FLEX-NS): Adapters - Flex Fuel | Racetronix Ethanol content sensor are originally designed to be on the feed line. These bypass blocks are meant to be ran in the feed line and not return. The continental ethanol content sensors have a 3/8" ID and not 5/16". This is why they are ran on the return line directly in conjunction with a low threshold sampling value VS in the feed with one of these blocks.    Haha we think alike, I used both original feed/return for 8AN feed, and one of the Hicas lines as a 6AN return. I also capped off and left the other Hicas line as a spare.
    • Interesting, I haven't read about the issue with oil getting into the speedo in the cluster before. I'll have to take more notice with mine. The speedo on my R32's when I've run factory diff and tyre size have never been accurate as far as I can remember. The non Type-M GTS-t did come with 15" 5 stud wheels and smaller brakes, but that's less than 5% of them.
    • Good to hear the condenser you picked up off my brother worked all good. Do you think there could be an issue with your AC compressor itself or the clutch on it then? I don't know a lot about them so I can't really help but keen to hear what it ends up being. Keep the build thread going man, it's nice to look back on over time.
    • This is a story of my life things, I learned eventually (thanks to someone calling me out) that my enthusiasm for discussing and sharing ideas that it came across as arrogance and I'm like... WTF?!    One thing I'm pretty sure I justifiably pride myself on is knowing that everyone will have things they can teach you, and you're always going to find out that something you think you know turns out wrong - you just don't know what it is until you get there.   Just the bursting enthusiasm that comes with ADHD when you hit something that gives you dopamine dumps can come across like you think everyone else is wrong or don't matter. But yeah, I'm a software engineer by trade and also do tuning in weekends and 100% have long had a reputation for  quickly making connections when resolving problems or forming solutions that I've sometimes had to take people form a long walk from start to end to explain how I ended up where I did when it's seemed "too simple" when I've stated my initial case, and had the "WTF" type reaction when they've realised how much was actually considered haha.   My reward is that I get all the curly problems thrown at me.
