it needs to be in good condition, reconditioned or new.

Ian, you should be able to get one off any RB-engined car, including VL Commodores, I believe.

Hey Nick,

i thought the same but i had a VL starter today and they are different.

Phisically the VL starter is bigger but the drive gear is smaller. Also the VL solenoid connections are different.

Someone did fit a VL starter. Its in here somewhere. Let us know how you get on and can you give a pic of both starters so we know what to look out for.

RB30 starters had been used on RB20/RB25's i thought... and L series datto starters are the same... But if you have tried you have tried. I only have RB30
