Hi Folks,

Have heard knocks comming from rear of car (s2 rs4) when driving over sharp bumps and have always put it down to the Tein coil overs untill Today.

I have attached two pics of what i knoticed when jacking up the car. It appears there is some seriouse movement in the rear main frame bushes. What do you think, could this be the noise ?

Do these pics look normal? i would have thought this should not move at all...

not necessarily a problem, the bushes have metal sleeves inside which create the clearance. what was the jack under when the pic was taken (subframe or not).

easiest way to get it checked out is to head to pedders and hand over $15 or whatever it is for their bush check.

Yeah thanks, i have been to pedders on two occasions and parted with the cash and first time was told there is nothing wrong, second time was told the exhaust was hitting the bumper. I know what metal on metal sounds like and its not the exhaust.

The money is not the issue here, i just want it fixed what ever it is.

And yeah it was on bricks in one pic, and the other jacked up slightly.

fair enough....I wouldn't go there for detailed set up hints but they should be able to spot simple stuff like that. probably best going to an import workshop if you need it checked out properly...whereabouts in sydney are you?

I've had the zorst knocking on underfloor noise , its a low sort of clunk, often couple in a row. whereas suspension tends to be a single, repeatable clunk. is the top nut on the coilovers tight, ie are the springs trapped properly? can you see any dodgy bushes (lots to check....much easier on a hoist)

Get under the car and see if you can push the exhaust to hit anywhere and if you can it probably is hitting. Try bending or adjusting the hangers or see if the rubber mounts are flogged out or missing.
