Having SAU promoted through this kind of medium is a huge bonus, especially for people who's not aware of these forums itself.

And if Andrew wanted to make money on the DVD's, he would've priced them a lot more than 15 bucks. Where on earth can you find newly released motoring DVD's for that price?

So you're saying he does it for the love of it? And works for free?

Giving SAU a wrap on the dvd doesn't help SAU pay the bills associated with running the forum.

Looks like the rules in the business trader section doesn't apply equally to everyone.

forum police ?

Why are we back on this topic again. FFS! OMG Andrew posts up a thread about an awesome DVD, better than the 20 threads on BOV's and P platers taking turbos off that you see every day. I'm sure if Prank had a problem with him he would speak to him about it, obviously he doesn't so why do some of you guys?

[200] if there is something untoward going on in your opinion simply hit the report post button on the post that you think is against the rules so its reported to the moderator section. Thats what ive done in the past, seems to work and keeps everyone happy.

I was curious to know why he's allowed to do it though, the mods are usually pretty strict with this sort of thing. I know I wouldn't get an explanation if I was to hit that button which is why I haven't done it.

I just think it is unfair for the traders on the forum that they have to make a payment (not cheap either!) before they can start to advertise their products where the OP can just start a thread and flog his dvd. I bet if anyone reading this started to advertise in the trader section they would be closed down in a day.

Like I was suggesting before, the OP using SAU or whatever on the DVD does not contribute to the running costs of this forum.

IMO if he wants to trade / advertise he can do it like everyone other trader on the forum.

looks like a good dvd mate. i will be picking a copy up today. i find it impossible to find a good import dvd these days most of them suck, but this is a winner and its australian, keep up the good work.

OK, enough of this crap. Each DVD cost more money to make than I would ever want to admit and just covering the R34 10th Anniversary cruise costs me over 3 grand, and yes, OUT OF MY POCKET

so being allowed to let people know about the DVD in return for covering relevant events is totally fair.

Im not just some newbie production company trying to make some quick cash you know, I've been in the scene for over 10 years and many people can vouch for it, so keep it on topic, if you dont like it then keep it to yourself.

To everyone else, thanks for the support and glad you like the DVD

ppl need to chill hey.

[200] - here's a thought. He's not actually trading on the site is he? He's not selling anything through the site. It's up to you whether you go buy it from the newsagency.

And as PM-R33 said, if Prank, or any of the other Mods had a problem, they would act on it fairly quickly.

I've personally worked with Andrew (this is gonna cause a sh*t fight i can see it), but he works bloody hard to give you guys awesome footage to watch! And yes as he said, the R34 GT-R Cruise did cost him alot to even cover (i know this because i was the one that approached him to start with regarding covering it and he explained that to me) So that's money he's pulled from his own pocket, to try and support an event that SAU created.

And yes your right. There was no mention of SAU on the cover. BUT...think of it this way.

The forum is exposed on the DVD, as has already been discussed, by the many shots of SAU stickers, and mentioned by Andrew himself (he also mentions the cruise was organised on SAU)

People who are not necessarily on the forum, see this and think "wow thats pretty cool i want to be a part of that" and join the forum.

Having more members on the forum, leads to higher possibilities of more ppl donating to the forum, this then equals higher revenue for the forum. And in a nutshell that allows for the forum to keep running so that you can continue talking crap on here.

I fail to see how your shit posts are helping to pay the bills either. If the moderators have an issue with him giving us a heads-up on the new DVD then let them deal with it. It's not like he's trying to shift dodgy iPhones or cheap shit china import parts. At least this production gives something back to the community and if we fail to support it, then it won't be around long hence we're back to square one - bored. I'm sure you don't work for free so if the Motive DVD team happen to make any cash off what they're doing good luck to them.

Anyway on a lighter note, I've watched all 3 DVD's so far and enjoyed. Great coverage of everything with minimum bullcrap. Can't wait to see what else is coming up. The sponsor plugs are a bit obvious but without sponsors nobody gets paid I guess

You totally missed the point - good to see the user name accurately describes you.

Picked up my copy this morning, great production. Nice cars, sexy chicks. Pretty much had everything apart from interspecies love.

Does that mean no Nissans with Toyota engines?

    • Hey guys I’m chasing a Rb20det complete or bare block need a good running engine as mine has low comp
    • You're making my point for me. 95 is not "premium". It is a "slightly higher octane" version of the basic 91 product. The premium product that they want people to buy (for all the venal corporate reasons of making more profit, and all the possibly specious reasons of it being a "better" fuel with nicer additive packages) is the 98 octane stuff. 95 is the classic middle child. No-one wants it. No-one cares about it. It is just there, occupying a space in the product hierarchy.
    • 98 and 95 have to meet the same national fuel standards beside the actual RON.  91 has lower standards (which are quite poor really), so 95 is certainly not 91 with some octane booster. It would be an easier argument to claim 98 is just 95 with some octane boosters. Also RON doesn't specify 'quality' in any sense, only the octane number.  Anything different retailers decide or not decide to add to their 95 or 98 is arbitrary and not defined by the RON figure.
    • Anyone know alternatives to powerplus tungsten? Can't find an alternative online.
    • 95 is just a scam outright. 98 is the real "premium" with all the best detergents and other additive packages, and at least historically, used to be more dense also. 95 is just 91 bargain basement shit with a little extra octane rating. Of course, there's 91 and there's 91 also. I always (back in the 90s early 2000s) refused to put fuel in from supermarket related fuel chains on the basis that it was nasty half arsed shit imported from Indonesia. Nowadays, I suspect that there is little difference between the nasty half-arsed shit brought in by the "bargain" chains and the nasty half-arsed shit brought in by the big brands, given that most of it is coming from the same SEAsian refineries. Anyway - if there's still anything to that logic, then it would apply to 95 also. 98 is only made in decent refineries and, as I said, is usually the "premium" fuel, both in terms of octane rating and "use this because it's good for your engine because it's got the unicorn jizz in it!".
