New V35 Owner (to Be)

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I've been a member here for quite while but haven't really contributed much - mainly because I don't currently own a V35! Long story short I've loved these cars for a few years now and 18 months ago was a nasty pre-purchase inspection suprise away from buying a 2005 350GT premium pack sedan (full black leather etc.). Fortunately the inspection saved me some serious dough and oened my eyes to some real shiftiness.

18 months and a Honda Accord Euro later (brilliant car, just no guts), I decided to give into my urges and have put a deposit down on a 2003 premium pack coupe with a sunroof and what looks to be a DVD stacker in the boot. I have a pre-purhcase inspection scheduled for next week and I've got my fingers crossed that goes well. The dealer has said hey will fix any shortcomings identified by the inspection. All things going well I should have the car 2nd week of October (Has to be delivered from NSW to Melbourne)

Anyway a couple of questions - Chris Rogers is obviously the man with the know how on the electrical/multimedia side of things, so I was wondering Chris, when will you be in Melbourne next? I'm looking at a sat nav install (Garmin GVN53 to factory screen), cruise control and ipod adaptor install. I would normally do the ipod adaptor myself but these cars look particularly complex to remove the dash panels especially for the untrained.

Alternatively can anyone recommend anybody in Melbourne who has experience with these cars for the ipod adaptor and sat nav install?

Thanks in advance. Can't wait to finally own one of these :(

Just out of interest what was the shiftiness and potential dough eating on the '05?

Seller claimed the car was mint, had never been in an accident and had done 20,000kms. The inspection report showed a lot of dodgily repaired panel work and the general wear and tear on the vehicle was much more than you would expect for a vehicle which had supposedly done only 20,000kms, even if servicing had been neglected. The vehicle inspector told me he didn't believe the odometer reading was genuine. I've worked out that this particular seller seems to sell a lot of V35's under different names. You can pick his ads.

Hail "The King". AKA Chris Rogers, he'll probly know someone down here who could do it for you if he doesnt decide to visit. Hence he'll probly read this later on tonight.

He's reading this right now, "Hi chris"

Lol, but seriously he knows everything electricle about this car there is to know (as you said), so as said, he'll know someone down here in melbs.

If ya want the Stock Nav system to work it wont, forget it, guys have been trying to get it working in Aus for literally years. You probly know this already, but if you dont, if you want nav you'll have to go aftermarket, chris rogers does that aswell. For memory its like a flick switch, turnig it into nav mode (I apologize if wrong).

We just need another Chris Vistit to melbs, 2 votes so far.

    • I know there's been no posts for 3 years, but figured it wasn't worth starting a new thread for my question. The nice Japanese lady in my V36 occasionally/randomly speaks to me whilst I'm driving.  Of course my Japanese is very rusty, I'm guessing it's to do with the Nav system? Anyone have knowledge on this?
    • there are probably many ways to do it for my bosch motorsport abs we used a r33 gtst abs front knuckle and modified the rear knuckle to allow sensor to sit and read understand time, effort and $$ but reading from anywhere else  you get diff chatter etc where you lose 30% ish in signal clarity compared to the above
    • Little more work!  Did some body work on the rear wheel arches and since the paint was a cheap spray job before figured I’d do something to tide me over until I wrap the car.    Colour might not be everyone’s choice but I like it and it’s only temporary, just hate having primer from the wheel arches standing out.    Keeping an eye out for a decent set of wheels to throw on now. Wheels and tires on the car are junk
    • Its likely to be 70% road 30% track usage, track usage will increase if anything. Decided not to fit it as I cant be arsed changing the bushes on my LCAs again 🤣 I did get the below back from GKTech though so they should work together     The anti-squat kit and roll center adjusters work independently since they change the rear lower control arm's angle in different ways. The anti-squat kit adjusts the angle from front to back, which impacts anti-squat values. Roll center adjusters change the angle side to side, mainly to correct geometry on cars that are significantly lowered. They might affect each other a tiny bit, but overall, you can think of them as separate.
    • What are you doing with the car? street car or race car? People get hung up on the squat of the s/r chassis rears. There is positives to the squat if a car is setup and driven correctly for it (correct ride height, spring rate, alignment, damper valving). Generally just lengthen the rear traction arm by 5-10mm and that will help the squat and bump steer too. You are also correct with the roll centre too. This too also needs to be adjustable if you start messing with suspension geometry.   Having done quiet a bit of testing on race cars this year in regards to rear squat, I've seen some big positives from it in regards to drive off corners and traction.
