yeah it's a common problem for guys with long legs. you need to move the seat back which then means you are too far from the steering wheel for good control. the only solution unfortunately is to install an aftermarket steering wheel and boss kit and put a steering wheel spacer between the two. but if your car has a airbag steering wheel then it's illegal to remove it. of course lots of things are illegal but just be aware of what you are doing and the potential safety concerns.

Well with my well padded 6'4" frame tucked inside my M35, my arms are comfortably bent.. Never really wanted the steering wheel any closer, but in the XR6 rental I had in Sydney the other week, had the steering wheel as close to me as possible... Must mean that the Falcon dash is further away than the Stagea...

As for the R33 lack of room, both leg and arm, is the reason why I no longer own one...

how tall are we talking here?

Yeah I guess i'm just a freak... i am 6'1" and have shorter arms than most people that are shorter than me, i'll have to do more yoga to make my arms longer!

Man ur head must be touching the roof for sure!

I'm quite lucky in that whilst tall, my arms, legs and body length are all in proportion relative to each other.. Means I can basically get clothes and suits off the peg  I only look freaky tall when I have 5ft Chinese cousins photographed with me..

In the R33, head just touched the roof, but that was a 4dr, which is slightly bigger than the 2dr.

In the Stagea, no problems at all, I even have the power seat up a bit for comfort, I'm sure if I had sunroofs, things would be tighter...

Don't forget, also, that there ARE aftermarket wheels WITH airbags in them (MOMO make at least one, last I heard), so maybe you could use one of them with a spacer if you still require it.

You would have to make some enquiries (and, for your own benefit, get some supporting paperwork) to make sure it's all legal, though, and that might require an engineer's report too.

Cool thanks I'll look into that if I really do find the driving position too uncomfortable... i havent even picked up my M35 yet and i'm complaining....

No, he is getting the Silver Axis. :D

I was gonna pick up an ARX today. Got it inspected and there is a small leak from the rear of the gearbox. Possibly output shaft seal. Needs further investigation. The other bits were minor repairs like belts.

The dealer wanted us to settle and me to sign off i was taking the car with it's faults shown on the inspection report. I told him no mainly cos of the gearbox leak. Who knows what it could be or cost to fix.

So if he gets it fixed properly i may get it next week, but i've started looking elsewhere. Was really looking forward to driving a new car this weekend :D

Still have a small deposit on that AXIS... Who wants to go check it out? It's done compliancing and should be at the dealers yard!
