a while back my friend took my rocker covers off and painted them for me and we noticed how putrid the throttle body and plenum was so we took it all off including the aac valve and gave them a good clean.

put it all back together and the car is over revving,i had to turn in the idle screw because it was revving pretty high at idle but even with the idle screw turned in it still revs to high but not as much as before.

the same friend was at a dyno place and mentioned it to them and they said it sounds like an air leak and if i bring it in they can trace it and fix it.

ive tried to find it myself but its near impossible with the engine noise and wind blowing around off the fan,do you have any tips on finding it or should i leave it to the dyno guys?

I say leave it to the professionals... might end up wasting a lot of time and only fixing it temporarily. Sounds like it could be the AAC valve plug being a bit dirty?

Might want to check through that piece if you've got the time.

I've seen some guys testing it by sparying some form of oil into the car. This then creates smoke from the leaking area... I guess that's due to it burning?

Don't take that as advice from me though, as I have no idea if its good/bad.

Good luck mate

At work I use something called leak check, some special fluid but you can make the same stuff from water and dish washing detergent. Add a few drops in a bottle with a small hole in the top, shake it up the bottle and spray the bubbles on the vacuum hoses with engine running. Air leaking out will create more bubbles and leak found...

Sounds a bit stupid but it works...

i will try this, sounds pretty straight forward.

I rekon you could do it from home with a little help from the boys at mighty mods.

not bad idea actually.. companies do make these kits that you can buy too....

hey thanks for the link,im gonna make one of these.

if the detergent and water trick don't work i will use this one.
