Interesting angle :)

hahaha no no no i didn't mean it like that - i lose interest in cars very quickly

main reason being i can't find one that fits my every criteria... new... japanese.. fast... affordable

i've had a cefiro for nearly six years.. i love it because it's a four door. it's turbo. it's practical and turns heads everywhere

i've considered many different cars - the jzx110 appeals to me most as it's a suitable replacement for the cefiro, a 2003 model will be fairly new, toyota engineering and interior is always a big tick.

actually - andrew jzx100 - question for you... i read somewhere that ALL 1jzGTE's were single turbo after 1997, doing away with the parallel twin turbo setup found in the zenki soarers.. is this true? if so - does the jzx110 have a single turbo 1j???

this makes things much easier for insurance purposes =)

He's quick on the ball is that Chef fella

Just so this post becomes constructive, the single turbo VVTi 1JZ actually first appeared in 96 in conjunction with the JZX100 and series 2 JZZ30, as the last of the JZX90s were being sold. 97 saw the addition of some new features to the JZX100 and 98 saw the series 2 facelift.

I believe the 110 replaced the 100 in 2001, with a face lift in 03. Kristian should be able to confirm that one :)

JZX110 Toyota Mark II compliance now available

Toyota Mark II JZX110 compliance (successor to the JZX100 Mark II and Chaser) is now available. The Mark II is Toyota's mid size 4 door sedan with importable models featuring the 1JZ-GTE turbo power plant (with VVT-i) as found in the JZX100. There is also the Fortuna Yamaha Power version tuned by Modellista for those wanting something even more exotic.

The JZX110 Mark II is suitable for a wide range of enthusiasts with an easily tuneable 6 cylinder turbo engine fed through the rear wheels in either auto or manual transmission for those who want something sporty, it's well appointed with luxury features for those who want something cushy, and it has a big VIP style community in Japan for those who want something that looks hot.

Verossa compliance (a different looking JZX110 variant) is not currently available.

Models eligible for import:

2.5L turbo models only, which covers the Grande G-tb, iR-V, iR-V Fortuna and iR-V Fortuna Yamaha Power variants. Non turbo and 2.0L models cannot be imported.

Availability:

Mark II's sold well in Japan so there is ample choice, manual transmission models are rarer and more expensive, and the Fortuna models are slightly rarer as well.

Typical pricing:

As of mid 2010 typical prices from auction for an auto in good condition are around $16,500 and up, and around mid $20's landed and complied for a manual. Fortuna models are slightly more expensive, and Fortuna Yamaha Power models slightly more expensive still.

^^^^horribly wrong.

=)

jzx100's are ridiculously cheap now - like - suprisingly cheap.

like about 300K FOB which is 10-11K aud landed complied for a good one with mods.. why dealers are asking 16 / 17 for them still is beyond me.

the jzx110 have actually depreciated accordingly too. - they're on YAJ you can get decent and then some for about 650K "buy it now" car cost - which is about 16-18K landed complied.

as you could imagine - me paying 680K FOB for a soarer then finding out for about a grand more i could've gone jzx110 made me kinda kick myself haha

even if my soarer is immaculate and modded to high heavens, i still would've loved a 4 door again!

that said - i personally envisage my next car being the 120 series toyota mark X. just got back from singapore.

those cars are freaking lovely - spoke to a guy that owns one waiting on the side of the road, he let me sit in it - nicest cabin i've ever sat in EVER. nicer than ANY mercedes / BMW..

just sayin.

the import industry has kinda got a few things topsy turvy.

the jzx110 were old news before they were even news in the first place

they ceased production SIX YEARS ago - it's a shame that the next "buzz" car in the import scene is so old already..

we should have had sevs approval for these back in 2005 / 06. it's 2010 - we should have SEVS plates for the mark X by now, surely?

the import industry is forever playing catchup with itself.

it used to be so far ahead of the ball now it just seems to be lagging because it spent so many years with it's thumb up it's butt thinking that the V35 skyline will be the cash cow forever.

^^ Didn't you just buy a 15 year old Soarer??

And as always, you get what you pay for.

A decent manual 110 won't cost you any less than $30K, I know this from personal experience (see below). Decent autos are in the low $20Ks. Low prices at auctions doesn't automatically mean they're good enough to pass compliance.

i was just saying - the gubbermint is holding us back..

that 110 looks SWEEEEEEEEEeeeeet

hopefully that's yours... cos it look pron!

and as you said - get what you pay for - that's why my soarer was an expensive one! as for your "low 20s" for the 110 - i'm just basing my arguement on yahoo japan, people asking 650/700K buy it now price, factor in FOB costs and you have paid SIMILAR to what i'm paying for my soarer - give or take...

then again - YAJ cars are "seller inspected and approved" so there may be accidents or crashes they're not mentioning...

Yeah that's mine, currently shopping for 20s :D

Don't forget compliance is $4400 :D

Seller inspected and approved isn't worth the paper it's written on, unfortunately - if a dealer in Oz was selling a car to Japan and someone asked them what it was like, I'm sure it would get a glowing report from the dealer if they knew there was no warranty or recourse if the car wasn't as described :P

personally i'd buy those schwert SC2's in 19in that aaron has... they're sexy offsets for toyota AND they're in a super low disk...

i looked around for MONTHS for SC2 with low disk... found nothing, let alone SUPERLOW disk...

but seems according to facebook... those SC2's are going onto a JZX100...

schwert SC5 would be nice on it :P

infact anything from the schwert series would be porn-o-sexual

Was down at importfactory tonight looking at a R34 GTT sedan. THe guy showed me a couple of chasers he had...one of them being a JZX110. He reckons it's probably one of the 1st to be imported/complied in Aust???

judging from the posts above...I don't think so...
