My Turbo Sounds Like A Rubber Duck When Boosting

hey guys and gals,

im a good friend of shaun and have spoken about his problem and is thinking of replacing the mani-head and mani-turbo gaskets aswell as looking for another turbo to replace the standard t28 (correct if im wrong), all in all has anyone got any suggestions on what turbo would be a good replacement for response but is able to make a little bit better power than the factory turbo? i did have in mind something like a vg30 turbo or similar but i would think that wouldnt be much of a better solution? we have found the mani-head gasket is around 110-120 and shaun has a budget of $600

Any helpers?

EDITED: made a few changes lol and his R33 RB25DET is pretty much stock besides an oil cooler, 3" exhaust system, standard cat and fmic thats it

cheers bud, we're actually looking at a new-ish (better than standard) turbo atm, but we have also picked up a mani gasket from Burson's for $49

Got around to replacing the exhaust manifold -> head gasket, no more squeaky squeaky! thanks helpful SAU members
