Brezza
hey guys, i was wondering whether anyone else is having issues with getting the filter box to close properly with a K&N pannel filter in there? the mechanic told me that they are a little thicker than stock ones that is why i cannot get all 4 clips on, i can only get 3 on. its on a R32 GTR btw. i find it was really hard getting the filter in there as the top lid doesnt open very much and there is only just enough room to slide the filter in with a bit of force. anyone have any helpful suggestions? Moodles2
Quite normal, one of mine clips up but slips off, mechanic has same issue with his r32 gtr's airbox as well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/289910-gtr-airbox-not-closing/#findComment-4852137 Share on other sites
gotRICE?
Sounds like they did a shit job designing the filter! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/289910-gtr-airbox-not-closing/#findComment-4852237 Share on other sites
(OO)SKYLINE(OO)
A little bit thicker then the stock ones? I'd assume K&N panel filters where high flow and it should be thiner... You installed it correctly? If K&N designed it and does not fit well, I'd get another band of panel filter. Brezza
apparently its normal for the air box not to close properly. my mechanic told me that he has to trim back some of the rubber so it seals properly. i have heard the same thing from 2 respected mechanics who know their way around GTR's so i am not going to worry too much. gotta love the change in note when changing from pods to stock air box. i love the deep roar now opposed to the pshhh noise from the old FOAM pods! go the stock engine bay!!! Duncan
yeah the standard airbox is painfully tight - and some aftermarket filters are a little large than stadnard which makes it even tighter. to get the clips on, 1 hand to hold the clip almost on, the other tap lightly it with a hammer to click it on Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/289910-gtr-airbox-not-closing/#findComment-4852956 Share on other sites
