g'day mate!

firstly how much do you have to spend??

The biggest tip i can give in regards to the "is it worth it" question is...use your brain. look out for any body damage, rust, discolour, check all the panels are the same shade of paint (this may indicate replaced panels). listen out to hear any strange noises coming from the engine, check if there is anything weird coming from the exhaust (get a person to hold a blank, white A4 peice of paper 30cm away fom the exhaust and rev it a couple of times. nothing should appear on the paper, only perhaps a few water drops if it has been wet.)

I recently bought a R34 and the best thing i did was get a pre-purchase check. i used StateRoads and they are fantastic. i would highly suggest you get a pre-purchase check after you find a car you are serious about buying.

in regards to the 2.0L question...i would personally get a 2.5L, dont get me wrong, the rb20de is a tough lil motor but it does lack the power because it is non turbo engine. 114kw in a car that has a curb weight in excess of 1300kg is not a good power to weight ratio.

what do you mean by "feel much of an upgrade in power"? im going to guess you mean torque. if this is the case go the 2.5 because you wont feel much difference upgrading to a 2.0 from a 1.8L engine.

Good Luck!

Hi guys new here.

im on my green p's in NSW and want to purchase a skyline.

i have been offered a stock manual 2.0ltr r33 for $6500 is this worth it?

and with the 2.0ltr model will i feel much of an upgrade in power from a 1.8ltr lancer with exhaust?

thanks in advance!!

HR33 GTS - 2lt RB20E SOHC I6, 96 kW, 172 N m.

I have never seen a 2lt R33 GTS in AUS, I can't remember if they were not available due to the power to weight ratio, Or everyone just bought the ER33 GTS 25 - 2.5lt RB25DE DOHC I6, 140 kW, 231 N m.

I would shop around for the 2.5lt, it more bang for your buck IMO.

So Green P's, does that mean you can only drive N/A in NSW?

The 2.0ltr R33s didn't meet the power to weight ratio so wasn't eligible for import from what I recall.

Might have come in under the old rules or was a personal import? Unless at some stage someones swapped a 2ltr non turbo engine in to a 33 that was a 2.5?
