The lock button on my (only) remote for the car is dying. I've pulled the thing a part dozens of times, replaced the batteries, everything. The guy at the battery shop took a good look at it too and he reckons there's a crack in the circuit board somewhere.

I'm pretty sure this alarm came with the car from Japan. The remote itself is very old, and I can't see any sort of brand anywhere on the remote or the unit itself.

So my question is: are there any universal remotes that can somehow be programed to match my system's frequency and code, or am I doomed to buy a new one?

I've seen a couple learning remotes around, they don't cost too much. I haven't used one myself so cannot confirm their reliability but I dont think it would be too hard to get a replacement.
