When - 2001/2002?!?!

Where - Eastern Creek

With who - Motoconcept gang... fatz, marjanal, bonkers etc...

Any pre-setup involved - none

Favourite memory of the day - using blinkers when cornering

Things you learnt; about your car, yourself or the track - Power is nothing, balls is everything.

fark even toulia is alive in this thread!

I'm pretty sure my first track day was with Honda Car Club at Wakie in 2001....their (ex-)famous GOHCCDTD. Pretty sure I met Pete there he was the only other skyline guy there.

Team trackday were great days....bloody hell they used to be cheap before insurance went crazy...and no problems with passengers back then either.

Bottom line is....even stock, skylines are one of *the* best track cars around. And there is not much more fun in life than doing laps of a race track.

If you haven't given it a go, have a chat to some of the people in here, and come along some time. It looks pretty frightening from the outside, but give it a go....you will love it.

I'm still around. Just in ninja mode!

I'm hankering for some track action but no car anymore. Hopefully I'll be on 2 wheels in 2010 and get my track day fix.

Warning to anyone thinking about going to the track. It's addictive. The only cure for it is more track days.

I have always been so apprehensive of taking the plunge into track days because of fear of being seen as a "novice" or "poorly skilled" but I can see by reading this thread that everybody is nervous and not exactly sure of what to do thier first track day.

I hope all the "Old Timers" in the track days dont mind teaching us noobs the ways of the force.

so true... all I can say is give it a go

I made the mistake of never trying it out when I had my Gt-t for that exact reason. it certainly would've been more suited to track work than my current car

I had a fantastic time at Oran Park and glad I had the opportunity to run before it closed, everybody was helpful in providing tips and pointers (like NOT leaving yor handbrake on after a run, I'm such a noob :ermm: )

I even snuck a session in with group 4 to make me feel better, was stuck in the 'experienced' group even though it was my first trackday

so to anyone who is holding back but always wanted to do a trackday, all I can say harden the F&ck up and do it!

there was a mazda 3 even giving it a shot good on 'em!

First time at the SAU OP track day, was awesome. Hell I'm a poor hobo and I still went, had to borrow a helmet at the inconvenience of a fellow skyline-r but was awesome. Now to get a helmet and prepare for the next one!

It's not exactly ideal to jump onto the track while it's wet, first corner I almost lost it on the outlap behind the ute and couldn't catch up to it because I was too scared to put my car into a wall. But it's still a lot of fun and pushes you as a driver (especially if you're in a slow car like my R31).

Don't be afraid, the track is a hell of a lot safer than the road and you can really push your car to it's limit with no worries of police or other public (apart from other cars on the track).
