wondering alex.. let's say a hyperthetical that your in an accident.. and the other guys at fault.. he's wrote your car off but he's not insured at all..

if you was on full comp insurance.. they'll fix/replace your car at a "not at fault" claim, costing no excess at all and the insurance company will chase him down for the money. where as if you had to chase him it could be ages before you get money and that's if you don't get the run around (had this happen to my parents, and cops eventually said not worth chasing anymore)..

Insurance has it's perks, but also it's downside..

alex is a wog

if the other guy wrote alex's car off but didn't have insurance, and couldn't pay it, alex would call some potato eating cousins of his who would pay our uninsured friend a visit and leave with his kidneys..

People here are taking my words out of context, im not saying don't get any insurance im saying just get third party, even with third party if your not at fault the insurer will chase down the case for u.

correct me if im wrong but i was under the impression 3rd party only covers you when you damage someone elses car, if you're at fault

......

maybe read it slower? :D

I read it, if the fag cant pay ill track his ass down and start taking his furniture and shit, should have thought about that before being gay wod.

2 notes as a professional in the industry...

1. Excess (fee) is not a fee it is paid as your contribution for a claim and is only required when you claim, never before.

2. Until you get 25 you will get buttsecked on premiums, silly car to get at 17 IMHO considering NRMA offerred me at 25 $2400 for my 33

Comp is something you definitely want to have, it's like health insurance really, I forked out ridiculous amounts of money all year long, but when it came time for surgery, it saved my wallet good and proper. It all comes down to whether you want to gamble. If you're feeling lucky, punk, then just get 3rd party. There's no way any of us can say if or when you'll be in an accident, you could be in a nasty one but it might not be your fault. If that is the case, and you don't have it, and THEY don't have it, you are left with nothing. The only thing you will be covered for is their hospital bills. So it's really just another one of those shitty personal choices.

In reply to your actual question though... No, you will not find cheaper than Just Car (or Shannons in some cases). Andy paid just under $3K when he first got insurance on our old R33 gtst, then he wrote it off 22 hours later. We got the agreed value back, and ended up making $1500 out of the whole ordeal. Second time around he paid the same amount on the same car, then every year since then it's gone down. Also, once you've been with them for a year or so, you are then eligible to pay by the month, which is great, no more big lump sum payouts every year! We are currently paying $102 a month for the GTR for both him and me insured, with an excess of $1900, so your costs will decrease with age and good driving history.

Good luck!

Not true, most TPPDO policies (Third Party Property Damage) also cover up to $5000 worth of damage caused by an uninsured third party.... so you can be partially protected... but if they have insurance and are jerkoffs you are screwed, don't be an idiot, get comp.

    • And....if that could be true for all R34 GTTs, then it might be good. But in reality it is not really any better than my standard instruction to "go out and have a look at it yourself, and wave a tape measure around" etc etc, because as soon as you have any adjustable arms, or coilovers with smaller diameter springs, or tyres that have any bulge that goes out further than the rim, etc etc, then the simple version of the information is still potentially misleading. Plus, nothing in this is static. Everything is moving. At the rear the wheels swing inward at the top as they go up, so the clearances on the inside change as the suspension is compressed. At the front it's even worse. And then you have the difference in absolute wheel position in the arch can move around more, or less, depending on how compliant the bushes are. If, like me, you have sphericals on the front caster rods (and on the FUCAs also, but these are probably less dominant when it comes to wheel position), then your wheel will swing forward/backward under loads, as well as up/down, as well as steering angle. You end up having the simple numbers with 17 caveats/footnotes for each.

    • Actually PowerFC is probably the easiest to get basic data from, it comes with a hand controller and display so you don't need to remember to pack a laptop every time you drive. It also has a PC based viewing/logging option if required. Nissan used consult on these because back in the mid 80s, ODB was just a glint in a standard's body's eyes.  They switched to OBD shape around 2000 (my 2001 Cima had OBD shaped but not OBD compliant port) With the standard ECU there is a cable and software available to give basic data too, I think it is called Nissan Data Scan or s
