Yes, it can foul the plugs up. When the hose pops off all the metered air isn't making it to the engine but it's still getting the fuel for that much air. Running rich as a cop can foul the plugs pretty quickly.

I had mine blow off and limped home which was around the corner. Car ran for about two minutes with black smoke pouring out the back. They were brand new plugs as in installed 1 hour before and all 6 were catus (black as the ace of spades).

If the car doesn't start again, pull the plugs out and clean them then reinstall. No real need to get new plugs just because they got a bit sooty.

thanks...i have been trying 2 diagnose a misfire and thought i had fixed it, new sparks and then regapped then...then took it 4 a drive and the pipe popped...and now misses again...might pull them out and have a look.

sometimes the plugs can be damaged and burnt when this happens. no matter how much you clean them they are just never the same
