Awesome - glad it's finally at that stage, I would have thought it'd at least survive the dyno tune with a bit more boost so you don't need to go back for another tune just to get more from what you already had. Either way, good power at that boost... how does the spool look, and how does it drive? Happy?

Spool quite well I reckon considering its low boost level. Full boost at about 4500 so a bit laggy but one it's on it flies.

Traction issues are the biggest hurdle at the moment. 3rd gear rolling launches are straight wheel spin. Standing start 1st and 2nd area almost a write off

Argh, weird scale - it's really hard to tell the power numbers... though can see that it definitely wants more rpm! Looks like it is at 20psi by just after 4000rpm which isn't too bad, reasonably quick ramp rate too - does it actually feel laggy at all on the road.... how comparable is it with the GT3076R on the RB25 to drive?

yeahit is a weird scale. The lag isnt really that much considering the turbo size. Once it hits full boost it goes like a steam train in 3rd gear. Limiter at the moment is set to 6800. I've got to go back shotly and get the head tightened down so I might get him to throw a few more PSI at it and take the limiter out a bit further.

Feels like a totally different car compared to my old setup

New motor got its first taste of a track day today. Only a little happy laps session but good enough to get a feel for it. Ill start posting some videos once they upload

Managed to come across a lone photo from the Downshift Circuit & Coffee on Sunday.

Also you may notice that the car got some new plates. "MR33"

Big thanks goes out to Marg G Photography for digging this one out for me.

Thats also Nick riding shotgun with me , or #Captain Natro as he is known around here.

Hopefully i can get it back to Richo this week to get the head tightened down. Maybe throw a few more PSI at it to see how it goes. One thing i did notice from giving it a few good runs on Sunday is that the package isnt working hard at all to make the numbers. It feels like i wants more boost and the 6800 limiter seems too early

    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to some I’ve seen though
