Looks like you have been busy Scott.

Still coming along well :)

Oh and yes nice puppy lol.

Thanks Chris, I feel like im doing a lot but the car is kinda going no where a bit at the moment. its all pretty much waiting for the motor to get done and for me to save some more $$.

Noel's old engine aye? I recall that being quite the unit

Yeah mate, Noels old donk. He bought my old one too. His motor was too good a unit at the price not to buy in my eyes

And cute ankle biter, love the blue cattledogs

He is definitely cute, and an ankle biter.

Safe to say this thread has been very very non active of late, which really is a true reflection of the work doing on with the car at the moment. Slow and steady wins the race here at the moment. SOld some parts, bought some parts.

MOTOR : Turns out even the rods on the bottom end were no good so new pistons and rods have been ordered and arrived. Pistons are JE 40thou Pistons. Block is currently 20thou. ROds that have been ordered are Spool rods.

I also dropped off the crank this week too to get a last ditch attempt to save it. Not overly fussed if not as ive got a new one lined up and just got to get a collar on it.

CAR: Not much car wise has happened for a while looks wise. Just been picking up parts here and there really. I did manage to pick up a set of sway bars for the car which seem to be a serious bit of gear and hard to come by through Whiteline in these sizes

Front is a custom 33mm Inc big sump clearance
Rear is 29mm

Also ditched the GT wing look as getting it right was giving me the shits too much so I picked up a bootlid with duck wing that needs some paint but should turn out fine and do the job

the dog has also taken up shotgun for all car part runs of late and seems to enjoy the trips

Not sure if i posted this previously or not but I ditched the Nardi deep dish wheel for a flat Sparco wheel and quick release. Poor pics but it looks a lot better

Last of all I got bored so test fitted my 26 covers and trigger setup on the head. Photos dont do the colours justice and they combine really well in person IMO.

Not too much happening here on the motor side of things but there is a lot of changes to the car itself which is going to be keeping me busy. Ive decided to throw a GTR front end onto the car and with a series 2 gtst this isnt the most straight forward of tasks. Anyway Ive been able to source all the parts needed and started to test fit it.

Also thought about running this badge to stir up all the gtr owners out there

ha stir all the GTR owners. Love your build dude keep it up

I also sourced a Greddy RB26 plenum for my motor. BEing a rb25 head I will have to run adaptor plates for the plenum and ITB's to work properly

Plenum fresh from the sand blasters

20150217_183420_zpsfbtribzq.jpg

Decided to give it a Carbon Hydro-Dip to see how it would look. This finish may or may not last, Im not overly fussed either way and really just did it as i was curious to see the end product and how it would hold up to the element of an engine bay.

Still a heap of things to update on over the coming days

plenum looks good

Thanks Mathew, No CAS on this car mate. Gone to a trigger setup.

In regards to the front car lip. At this stage all i want it to get it all together first then i will work on the minor touches.. but it might need something thats for sure

haha nice hydrographic iw as thinking about doing my RB26 covers in carbone. hydro dipped. but doing someth8ing nicer :D

What Cas setup are you using?

BTW you should get the S3 front lip for your GTR bar.

s3 sounds good but exy also would need S3 headlights to match

    • Found the answer: it wont fit without a bit of work- you'd have to change the guards as well
    • Ok cool, because I do have some OEM BMW options for light(er) wheels. 17x8.5 M Sport wheels are 11kg and I could put 255's on them. Maybe that's an initial test.
    • So, in the effort of pulling apart airboxes and testing enclosures to see if this aids in MAP loss at WOT I noticed: 1) The ducts up the OEM intercooler holes from the front bar help IAT drastically, whether the pod is shielded from the engine bay by an airbox missing a lid, or an airbox WITH a lid. Plus you get more induction sound without the lid. Having half the airbox (with no lid) acting as a barrier to the headers seems to help. 2) For shits and giggles I checked the TB. This was full pedal travel. This is actually full travel of the TB. Photos aren't perfect, but there was definitely an amount of play in it and it wasn't against the stop. After much swearing and adjusting the pedal, I realised that the cable is actually too long for the skyline pedal travel to fully articulate it. Having the pedal adjusted so WOT was actually hard open on WOT resulted in an idle of 3500rpm. As an aside, this was also the TPS registering at 3.1%. I removed the above to give the pedal enough travel to actually fully open the TB. I now get a satisfying 'thonk' on full open and full closed which you can hear pumping the pedal as it hits the TB stops (with the bonnet open and intake back on). Luckily for me, the screw screws into a raised metal boss under this plastic piece that is now acting as the new throttle stop. I've gained about 20mm (ish) of pedal travel and I can move it maybe a mm or two post open-thonk before it's hard against the stop. After all of this I did a bit of road tuning because a 102MM throttle is sensitive. The difference between holding an 950rpm idle and instantly stalling is about 0.4% of TPS movement. Will that help? I suppose it can't hurt. I set 'closed' point back to where it was, I can definitely feel the extra pedal travel that is needed to actually open the TB fully. But this morning I dropped the car off at Paint Jail again, so who knows when this will re-eventuate out to see if it helps with the top of the dyno hitting a ceiling.
    • Take heart that everyone else seems to have found a way. The OEM S1 indicators do slot in pretty firmly. It may simply be a case of having them sit slightly looser and nobody actually ever noticed this when attempting to remove a indicator from a JSAI bar :p
