Then i got all the GTR front end conversion panels back from paint and fitted them up. Surprising how much more aggressive it now looks in the front end.

There has also been a few parts changes too. The T51 is out, decided to go with something a bit newer and sold it in favour of an 80mm MTA turbo which will be similar is sizing etc as a GTX42r.

ECU also has been purchased. THe new EMTRON KV8, this ECU is a serious piece of gear and cant wait to see it in action

Fabrication work well and truly underway with custom made CRG Manifold along with dump pipe and plumbed gate.

Note you can see where the gate will be mounted off the rear housing for better boost control.

very very snug fit with the strut and the turbo :P

absolute best build i've read so far. keep it up mate, you're an inspitation to others!

Thanks Dan!

Its getting there, still a long way to go before its finished. All the fab work should be finished by weeks end and then a few more things to go on then off for some wiring

looks awesome Scotty

So much hard work and coin poured into this

Once it's all done......well I think you already know you will need an extra pair of undies

Keep up the hard and good work Scotty

Definitely taken a lot of coin thats for sure Ants, but will be worth it in the end. Cant wait to see the fab work complete and the bay put back together then it will look like real progress!

Build progress is getting there. Lots of little things have been knocked over in the start of 2016 and the setup is almost ready for wiring.

  • New Fuel Rail
  • Revamp Fuel Setup. Braided line all the way through from surge tank to rail and then returned via the FPR that is now mounted under the car by the gearbox
  • Tailshaft & Shifter installed
  • New PWR trans cooler fitted and hooked up with new braided line
  • All sensors installed ready for wiring up to the Emtron KV 8 ECU. Sensors include (Oil pressure, coolant pressure, trans fluid pressure, fuel pressure, 5bar map sensor, 2x knock sensors, 3x temp sensors (coolant, oi & tran fluid), air temp sensors post turbo & inlet & 6 x EGT's)

Now photo dump....

Thought I'd post a refresher up of the coilpack setup Ive decided to run with this car.

After speaking with serveral other mid to high RB powered guys we decided that your standard Splitfire'swhere probably going to run out of puff and start causing issues. LS1 Coils were an obvious and well tried option, however i wanted something that was a little different and would also git inside the valley cover to keep as neat a look to the engine bay as possible.

Enter the LS2 Truck Coil

Whilst these arent a direct fit/replacement they can me made to work. To make these fit under the vallet cover, I've shaved about 10-15mm off the bottom of the coil to help it sit lower onto the plug. Ive then used the spring out of a stock set of RB coilpacks and attached it inside the LS2 Coil. To help with mounting them onto the plug Ive used the coilpack boot from a set of 1JZ coilpacks (Red Silcone Boot). Ive tried to show the layout as best i can in the below photo.

Last but not least, Ive had a customer mounting bracket made up to help keep them secure in place. Overall i think its turned out really well and everything is still easily accessible

    • See, that button sounds like perfection Duncan! My eyes really don't like light shining at them from a dash when I'm driving. Being part red colourblind, I've found for most cars that I can change colours on, I set everything to red, so my eyes see the elast amount of colour! I miss normal gauges in cars
    • bro, knowing the Japanese in  the 90's, i wouldn't be surprised if they shared components across their model lineup.
    • Maaaan so many "little" things  i rly hope my old RB20 would be "ok" and not too bad. I try to learn what and what not do i need. I look at crossmember at it looks different...even parts numbers are different. Wiring and all that i rly do not know...yeah someone mentioned the speedo thing. On that yoke clip. I rly do not know what can and cant be done "custom" so that is why iam asking to know and not be suprised 🙂  I know what it looks like
    • Oh, there's also the gearbox crossmember which will probably be different between the small box and the big box, and the wiring loom will probably need to be modified, because the plugs for the switches etc, will probably be different. And I think the speedo on the small box R34s is from somwhere stupid, like the diff, possibly, so you'd need to work out what needs to be done about that (assuming it is different). I think the thing you need to realise is that the front end of that yoke is a large hollow tube with splines on the inside that mates with the splines on the box's output shaft. It is a dedicated thing - not available "aftermarket". They were made to suit that box, by the car's OEM.
