no worries mate - its definitely series 1/1.5

That's what I was thinking too, but asked the question because of how narrow it appears (like S2) and then when they couldn't tell me for sure on the phone I was supposed to go down there for a test fit but like most things it a matter of finding time in business hours :3some:

hey guys. If you were to do the S2 conversion you would need to change

-Hood

-Headlights

-Reo bar

-Front bar

-grill

What about bonnet hinge?

Front quarter panels?

Also because its a r33 series 1.5 i never had fog lights (driving lights) so when i change to a series 2 bar does the car have to be re- wired ??? do i need to change the stalk to get the fog lights to work?

I am doing this conversion as my M-spec has had a front ender and i can convert to a series 2 for $2500 inc brand new carbon bonnet with 4 tuff looking scoops on each side and a big scoop in the middle so its a definite and im going to make a tuff s2 :P

Need help as i have all the parts to get on thursday but not sure if my series 1 guards are the same as series 2!!!!! HELP PLEASE

why play pretend :)

come on there not that expensive, were not talking about converting a cheap dato into a ferrari gto here. Just spend the extra $500 you save yourself after all the conversion process and get the real thing.

Hey, did you end up doing it? I just recently had a front ender as well :l

Just wanna know how you went and what else needs to be changed, hinges??

if you want a perfect conversion do all of the above... i simply just put the series 2 front bar on my series 1 and i reckon it looks better without the s2 bonnet, grill, etc. just my opinion tho.... the only fault is the front bar is set in a bit under the lights, like 10mm or so, other than that mine is a perfect fit.. s1 grill looks pretty good above the s2 bar aswell imo. thought id try something different.

the fog lights you do need to change the stalk, run a new line, relay, switch.... etc. or you can just tap them into the parkers lights like i did haha.

cheapest way to convert to s2 is wait for a wreckers to wreck a 33 and make a deal with em or something for all the parts. jap motorsports on magill rd offered me everything for a s2 conversion for a grand, obviously wouldve just needed a spray after that.

hope some of this info helped ...

Does that mean you'd be driving around with the fog lights on at any given time when your normal driving lights are on? cops will ping you for foglights on without the presence of fog

yea i suppose... i just dont want to spend the money for something i honestly dont care about .. perhaps i will try it myself do you reckon its alright to just have a seperate switch on your dash somewher for the fog lights?

Definitely hook up a switch, because you'll care after the coppers slug you a $200 (approx) fine!!!

They(fog lights) are very handy. I drove the sedan up to a friends place right up top of Norton Summit last night, and it was actually foggy on the way home after midnight. Fog lights helped quite a bit.

    • Interesting, I've heard complete opposite on my end. Bit of a lottery I guess.
    • Getting Dangerously close to being ready to go back in the car. Rockers in with clearance castings now (and a quick check with the USA for the torque settings for the larger custom bolts) Covers and ported FAST Manifold sitting on there. Not fully tightened down as there's some clearancing required for the water pump with the earlier LS1 water pump styles. Example of the clearancing needing to be done: The body has to be ground a little but I'm struggling finding an actual piece of it. The later variant of water pump resolves the issue as the manifold was designed around it. It only came on the VZ LS1 in Australia, it got a different pulley for Gen4 motors. (it also costs $450... vs... $0).

    • Oh...I have the electric mirrors as well iirc ...they're in the same state as just about every other R31 door mirrors, with the 3 plastic screw towers broken/cracked in the plastic molding. All the interior is 'dry', so the mirror switches etc likely all work fine. Some pics below of the trimmer pieces ~ looks to me like previous owner, painted chrome finished trims with black paint ...ergo, the chrome underneath is likely a-ok... ...starts to look yukky posting stuff like this, how much did it cost in fuel on your last sortie up this way?...me just thinking aloud, borrow someone else's 4cyl to cut costs, come do your own pick'n'pull like before to save me some bother...hehe.. but whatever, I'll just earmark bits I know you want, because the way this is all panning out, I'll be able to retire the R31 from daily duty at long last, replacing it with a Subaru wagon I'm lining up in the wings...ergo, my attitude towards the donor pinny shell is starting to wane a bit, and I'm more than happy to help you out there... Like you say though, no rush...and I'll guarantee we won't be moving too far from this locale at any rate 😎
