Hey All,

Been trying to figure out how to get a front cut down from Sydney, i have been quoted $500 but this was a bit ritch for me so i was thinking of flying up hiring on of the small trucks from Avis or somehting and driving it back down to Melbourne...

So there is going to be a fair bit of room in this truck so if anyone wants anything from just jap or any other performance places in sydney PM me and ill see what i can do.

I wont charge much for freight im just tring to cut back overheads, im not out to make $$$.

The way this will work is:

1. check i have room (if yes go to step 2, if no...sorry too late)

2. ill contact every one to let them know this is a go ahead

3. order and pay for the item and let them know ill be picking it up (ill have a date and times at a later date)

4. i drive em all back down to melbourne

5. you make deposit into my account to help pay for freight. (or cash on pick up)

6. we figure out where and when to meet to get your goodies.

And remember, if you dont pay for the items then i can't pick them up, if you dont have the money for freight you can't pick them up.

this is where you kick yourself, i took a pallett of parts to sydney last weekend (a whole interior), picked up a car and came back last weekend. but my UTE was empty on the return

i go up often, u need a front cut picked up ? panels and everything ? or just bare essentials ?

my next trip is for xmas

davo

im guessing your looking at leaving the truck in melb instead of driving it back, so once you add it up this is what your looking at:

truck rental for 2 days: $200 - $300+ return fee

Fuel: around $200

Air fare: $80-100

Time: 2 days

Add it all up and its worth getting it shipped to avoid all the running around and wasted time, in the end you wont be saving a whole lot, maybe a couple of hundred but is it worth all the f**king around when for that money it could be delivered to your door.

I can hire a truck from a company that only use em mon to fri so they are happy for a slab for me to use it on the weekend, as for rip off thing...I'm happy for you to meet me, he'll come to my house, that way even if I do a runner you can find me.

Hi mate -

I can help with your halfcut. I am traveling down to melbourne from sydney this weekend 17/10 with a 1 ton ute and car trailer to pick up a project car i just bought from melb. I am currently empty from syd to melb, so can work somthing out for fuel $$$ provided u can get it on and off the ute.

I have room for a car as well syd - melb, and freight melb - syd as well if anyone interested.

Also I am fully insured and a registered business and advertise as "aussie discount freight" in hpi, boost, hot4's, commodores so u know its in safe hands.

If u interested let me know on 0412825306

Don't suppose anyone is bringing a car trailer down from syd to melbourne in the coming weeks?

Otherwise what sort of costs would people expect for a road trip there an back with a car trailer?

    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise

    • Was that Australia Delivered Duncan? Does it have siren etc?   I used to have remote start on an old 32 two decades ago, it was a cool feature. I used to wake up early in winter for work. Start it and by the time i was out the door a few minutes later the engine was warmed up and the heaters had the car toasty. It was great.    I don’t mine the ambience lighting.  I drive a western star and it has footwell lights and ambient lighting and it’s great! From the pics of seen of them installed in a skyline I think it’s a nice touch
