I need advice before i purchase a brain for my ceffy. Aiming for around 260rwkw.

I have decided to go haltech but which one E11V2, Platinum Sport 2000 or Plug-in Pro?

I have a budget of around $2000 for my RB25DET cefiro.

Engine mods will include:

Stock internals

Blitz pod filter

Blitz Dual SBC

HKS turbo timer

HKS 555cc injectors

HKS adjustable exhaust cam gear

Tomei 256 Poncams

Gates belts

Splitfire coilpacks

Modified front facing RB25DET inlet plenum with custom tapered design

90mm GM throttle body

3inch turbo back exhaust

6boost low-mount manifold

Gutted-out cat

Hypergear highflow 470hp VG30 turbo .63

Any advice would be great!

I think Nistune (well Z32 ecu + Nistune to keep VCT) is the better and cheaper option.

I beg to differ. Any one of these 3 haltech units has an in-built map sensor and/or can run external map sensor thus dosn't need afm. It also has better potential for future tuning purposes, the plug-in pro is a direct replacement so it keeps the VCT and the other two have optional extras to run the nissan VCT not to mention various other features. At the end of the day its better bang for buck for my long term purpose, hence why I have settled on a Haltech, as stated before.

Good choice with the Haltech's :P, i was thinking of getting a PFC for my R33. But i saw a Haltech group buy, and couldn't resist. I grabbed a E11v2 with 3 bar map sensor, and boost controller solenoid. It really all depends on how much you want to spend and what features you are after.

The platinum is more designed for the newer cars, such as R35GTR, so you are gonna be paying quite a bit extra for it. That's why i went with the E11v2, decent price and features, i also got the plug and play loom.

I am about to remove the e11v2 in my Stag and replace it with Nistune.

I'm not even going to reuse the e11v2 in my skyline.

Ok i have no idea why anyone in their right mind would do that.

reason i ask is i have a nistune in my car now and wanted to go with haltech once i put the high mount setup.

really interested in different opinions.

Platinum is a big step up from the Older E11. We use them in Racecars but I still think Nistune is the best option for any true Streetcar.

I did a Nistune in a wild GTR for a well known Perth shop late last week and had no problems with 600rwhp.

Platinum has very nice Software, Something Haltech never had in the past.

Well for starters the Haltech is in an auto car so it's killing my gearbox, it doesn't seem to handle the VCT properly (or it's just not set up right).

I am also an AFM man (don't start on that argument) and when the 3bar map sensor died the other week, that was the last straw.

So I will sell the Haltech and probably get enough to cover Nistuning both cars.

*Note: I didn't put the Haltech in, it came with the car. It seems like a wonderful ECU with lots of fancy features, but it is far more suited to a dedicated track car.

Gotta agree with you there. Haven't been very user friendly in the past.

There's very few tuners out there that understand and are capable of tuning an engine to its optimum with a Haltech.

An example is my R33 GTS-T which when I bought it had the Haltech E6K, GCG high flow, FMIC, and an improved fuel pump.

The previous owner had all the fuel maps wrong and she only pulled 189 flywheel kw. (stockish power!)

I had it tuned by Justin at Tweakit, and came back at 247 fwkw. Not a bad increase just from a tune !.

Had to start from scratch ,load a new base map and take it from there. Lucky for me, Justin used to work for Haltech for years, that's why Tweakit promote Haltech as their preferred ECU.

I've got the Platinum now as it supports full sequential ignition as the E6K only supported semi-sequential for 6 cylinders and was limited with Injector, Cams and Turbo upgrade.

Now pushing 310 rwkw and fuel economy has never been better !

555 bhp and still getting 120km per 10 litres fuel on the freeway.

It's all in the tune... :D:);)

we do just about every different ecu so im unbiased and although every second post above says nistune i beg to differ in this case even though they are extremely good (and we are a listed installer of nistune) they are no match for a good well tuned stand alone like the haltech platinum range if you have the budget and plan to do bigger mods down the track, the tuning resolution on a remap is about 50% of that of a stand alone. To make the most of the remap you really need to have a clear plan of future mods.

There are exceptions as we have a few cars now with nistune remaps making well over 350kw's some ecu's are better than others too, i find r31, vlt and ca18's to be less receptive to big mods, whereas zeds, GTR's and 34gtt's and stageas respond well.

The platinum is worlds better than the earlier haltech stuff mainly due to the new interface software, it is one of the best tuning suites around.

Platinum Pro supports AFM now. VVT control has never been a problem even on very old Haltechs.

The platinum pro also supports knock sensors, closed loop o2 (x2 for GTR not only 1), and direct fire aswell just to name a few additional features. Direct plug in for Skylines too so no messy wiring.

Oh and the price is very competitive too.

trent will be calling you soon, got my high mount setup so gotta speak with you about tuning now (trust t67-25g), whether i should just keep the nistune, or go stand alone.

I love my E11v2... although Matt (Hitman) was telling me all about the Platinum Pro and it has some added features over the E11v2. I have had mine for 2 odd years now, so just because a newer model is out I am not about to replace it!!

Both are good, both are direct plug in..... depends on what you want to spend... ( I am assuming there is an RB20 Plug in loom for the E11v2, I could be wrong though ?)

I will be getting a Platinum Pro for my next project though :laugh:

Also Haltech offer great after sales support... I had a faulty wideband 02 sensor and display module, popped into the Haltech office, grabbed a new one with no dramas, went home and replaced it and returned the faulty one to them the next day. Over $600 in parts given to me no dramas with only my word that I would return the faulty items. I do have a history with the Haltech boys but even still... great service :(
