okay i know this is a skyline forum BUT since im looking at skyline motors to swap into a 240 i figured i might as well give yall a shot.

anyone know anything about swapping these motors into the nissan 240?

if not....

any idea on the rb25det and rb20det? are htey good motors? im looking for about 400hp to the rear wheels of my next project. can this be achieved {in street tune, on pump fuel} im a machinist at a road race shop here in the u.s. so building the motor isnt really a big deal. but i might not do it right off the bat......

lemme know anything you can,

thanks

Brandon

Well, the good news for you is that all RB series engines fit right into the S13's (240SX to you) - I'm not too sure about the conversion process myself as i haven't really looked into it that much, however if you PM Nismo_Boy he may be able to point you in the right direction as him and his father are currently putting a RB25DET into a S13 Silvia (the 240SX's sister car - same car different front and back panels).

Also perhaps go to www.japanesemotorsport.com.au and E-mail them as they have done quite a few RB conversions from memory. It's not TOO difficult, however a RB26DETT engine will set you back a heap of money. Also, the RB series engines are a heavier engine, and will effect the handling a fair bit. If you're in the USA and have a 240SX with the KA24DE i suggest you look into a SR20DET conversion as its more cost effective and the easiest conversion you could do. They're also a great engine and it wont upset the cars balance, where as the heavier RB series engines will.

Achieving 400hp out of a SR20DET isn't that difficult either, they're a fairly easy engine to tune. Infact, it'd probrably be alot cheaper and easier than if you were to do it to a RB25DET for example.

hope that helps you a little :D

hey th anks for all the pointers :D anyhow i know the rb26 is much more complex than the sr20, which is why i want to put it in there. my shop builds alot of road race cars, so setting up the chassis for the heavy engine wont be much of a problem. i want the rb motor more for bragging rights i suppose, something to awe the customers.

also i feel as though 400 whp is not an achievable goal for the sr20det in a streetable trim. we have a customer that is putting down 457 on his sr20, but running boost levels that are not pump gas friendly. with the larger displacement i feel i can make the 400hp and still run pump gas. {id like to kick some supra ass :( } however if the sr20 can make 400 hp to the wheels {500+crank} at 19 psi or less lemme know. id love any input...i am definately waffling between an rb and an sr...**** for the money of an rb26 i could get the whole sr swap, build it and install it with cash left over

but i LOVE the inline 6 sound.......:D

Have u thought about a 1JZ-GTE or a 2JZ-GTE

with a 2JZ-GTE u can have 400 Hp easy with very light mods... kick supra ass since its in a lighter car and laugh at them at the lights when they ask u what the hell you've done to your car :D

hey... i know this is a skyline forum too... but i still rekon the Toyota sixes are **** hot too :D

see i always thought s13, s14 was the year of the 240..the s14 being the 95-98 coupe's the s13 being earlier liftbacks..hmm i dunno.

i thought about the 2jzgte, but i think its even bigger than the the rb26..not real sure though.

also i havent been able to find a 2jz for sale anywhere much less at an even sorta reasonableprice.....

S13's in the US are 240SX's.

200SX's over there are B14/B15......similar **** to our Pulsars.

They can also be known as the classic 200SX which were the S10, S110 and S12's.

Tokyo Toys in  Queensland knows a lot about rb conversions into s13's. They did my rb20det conversion into a Silvia. http://www.tokyotoys.com.au/

these people are doing our rb25det convertion.
