Hi guys,

well its fast approaching time for Tokyo Autosalon 2010 and from conversations I have had recently a few of you are interested in going over but may be put off by the language barrier and not knowing where to start really or how to get around....

This is where I come in... having been on four previous trips to learn my way around etc I am toying with the idea of running a tour.. (ie) I will organise/show you around Tokyo, accommodation, take you to Autosalon and tuning shops and also some cultural 'touristy' stuff too.

This is likely to be a one - time offer so think carefully people... I will ONLY take a small group of around 6-8 people max.

This will be for a period of approx. 10 days around 11th-22nd Jan 2010

APPROX. costs will be (per person):

Guided tour: $250

Flights: $1500 + insurance (about 90 bux)

Accommodation: $600

Rail pass (if needed) $375 (depends on itinerary)

Spending money:As much as you want!!

Places included will/can be: TAS, SuperAutobacs, Crystal, Top Secret, Up Garage, Nismo, Others by request... and Non-car: Disneyland, Sensoji Temple, Tokyo Tower, Ski-day (if wanted), Akihabara (electric city), Imperial palace gardens and more...

I will leave it open for those who wish to go if it is more car/less tourist etc...

THIS IS E.O.I. ONLY AT THIS STAGE TO GAUGE INTEREST AND SEE IF IT IS WORTH ALL THE HASSLE TO ARRANGE!!

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ALL THE ABOVE BEFORE POSTING.... SERIOUS ENQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE

First option given to those who have shown interest already.... Andrew, Ruby, Dion, James... I'm looking at you guys!!

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE HERE.... NEED TO GET THIS SORTED IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS IF IT IS GOING AHEAD.

Just need to pull some strings to gather funds, will have a definitive answer within two weeks (hopefully one week).

Good work Dion... I have penciled in the time off work and had it approved, so just waiting to hear about other potential travellers....

The only funds you will need upfront is deposit which will cover tour fee $250 then flights ( so approx $1750).... accommodation is pay when we arrive in Tokyo, insurance can be bought any time prior to departure as can rail pass if needed.

Much the same as in oz Ben... you can get a great japanese meal for about 8 bux or you can spend 40-60 bux on a big steak/ 3 course meal or something at a Hard Rock cafe... each to their own.

But its great food, lots of variety and doesn't have to cost a lot.

When I lived in Japan for a short stint I lived off sake and okonomiyakis (vegetarian type pancakes)

Came back 8kg lighter ... real healthy food without the fatty rubbish.

Martin, need to plan this one with my study etc ... will get back to you, but for now, realistically put me in the "probably not" category.

2011 I definitely will :/

Really wishing i had of got my passport organised at the start of the year now!

Passport only takes a couple of weeks, and you can book without it I reckon.... still got 3 months, but get on it James!

You go to Aust. post for the forms and get a photo done at heaps of places... doesn't cost much.

Would love to go too, have been thinking about going sometime next year. But at the moment, it is more a point of getting money to pay for everything, and some spending money. After just spending a rather large amount on my car, i really don't think i could get enough until mid next year. Will gladly go alone if you do another one.

OK guys here is the list at 13/10...

Myself (of course)

Dark.sky-Dion

JMW-James (waiting confirmation)

Cronic- (waiting confirmation)

Heslo (Possibly..)

And longshots:

Ruby (probably not), Nightcrawler (dunno?)

As I said previously for those worried about cash.... only tour fee and flights are required in the next few weeks!

I usually put theses on credit card then you got a few months to pay it off before going. Accommodation is pay on arrival, and you can withdraw yen from a credit card when you get there also. Then pay it off when you return... Easy!

Still spots available guys...

    • @DraftySquash @Duncan he's not talking about the part that sits against the radiator support, he’s talking about the lip that sits towards the front outside of the car. anyway I had a look at other cooling panels and came across this one https://justjap.com/products/carbing-radiator-cooling-panel-plate-nissan-skyline-r34-gt-t?variant=37829684134087&currency=AUD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=Advanced feed&utm_content=Carbing Radiator Cooling Panel Plate fits Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T (Coupe)&srsltid=AfmBOoonzPDKqe9NgKi5U0AkFc2XvbXETGmNWvfNcyBT5DUZagMYHg9DZ70 if you take notice it’s the same shape.  well thankfully the justjap listing has a description and it says : - Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T Coupe (M/T -07/2000) this means it’s specifically for a s2. S2’s have different front bars to s1 so that lip with the 3 holes are *probably* mounting points for the s2 bar. im not 100% sure but im almost certain it will still fit a s1 bar
    • Everyone is too used to learning from places like HPA "how to tune" and what to expect at what point, rather than being able to see "The computer says I'm in cell with Row = 8, column =4, and I can see my fuel is lean, so lets add more" Everyone wants "real units", which helps for someone picking it up for the first time and seeing how bad the tune is if they're not used to touching it.   However, I think for most of us who want to play with it, you're 100% right, we're only needing to learn about it for OUR CAR. Which makes it great, and we don't need to care what the real values are, we just need to know which cell it is, that's causing the lean or rich point, or that we want more ignition timing or less. But again, everyone wants everything super you beaut and nearly self tuning, with VE maps, and a billion compensations...   Though then there's me over here when I'm doing reverse engineering work just reading data in hex format that most people couldn't work anything out from. Yet I can see what's going on.
