So, my roof is gay. But see, rather than slam out the dents and make it beautiful which i cannot do very easily without it costing me arms, legs, genital bits etc, i was thinking:

Panoramic sunroof, lockable, black, cloth or plastic, with bolt-in half cage.

How can I acheive? Where can I get a sunroof of this nature custom made? Is it even a good idea? Has anyones roof ever esploded before?

Prestige Sunroofs in Myaree maybe ?

I dont think they do custom work though...they only install specific sunroofs.

What do you mean by panoramic?

That is bound to cost you just as much anyway.

Whats the damage on the roof anyway? Panel it out, cant cost too much, and get a modern sunroof installed.

panoramic as in a big f**k-off cloth or vinyl roof on runners, takes up the entire roof.

it's either one or the other hey. fact is, i think it'd be awesome... and one can only assume it has never been done before.

metal is stretched, and i honestly can't be f**ked if it's gonna be thin metal for the rest of its life hey.

i might give em a call. maybe they can match something up.

would it require a permit though?

Nah, sunroofs are all good, even if theyre non-factory options, DPI dont care.

Sounds cool. How does the roof lining roll up? Would need a fairly big roll at the back to roll it wouldnt you?

Ever seen a thing called Skyview ?

Comes in the late model Maxima's in the US.

Consider?

Ask TAKUSHI if you can vulture his roof? I think its all still intact, but its not a sunroof model.

IF you can find an intact sunroof, its easy, just swap out the panels, instlal the extra wiring loom and fit those drain pipes in A and C pillars, could be done in a day easily.

If you want some help with doing that kind of shit, lemme know, always keen to help out, especially on Ceffies.

sweet. i reckon it'd roll up accordion-like and hang at the back of the roof.

i'm talking take out the entire roof sheet section and replace it if i do this. it will be awesome... have a bar down the middle to keep it together.

man, i doubt you'd wanna sting it out to the country to cut sick on my ceffy, haha :P

not to drop names but i got it from kermit the f**king awesomest dude ever.

thanks for the help man!

you understand what i'm wanting to do though hey?

I was looking at buying that Ceffy once!! Awesome hey, some good quality work went into that one.

Northam isnt country, dont talk yourself up :P

And yeah, I get what you mean. Think even 300X Targa Top would be easier than a whole roof, still it'd be cool if you did it, go pillarless at the same time - awesome breeze.

Man, if tractors fill up at caltex, it's a f**king country town!!

pillarless? what am i a subaru? (that's not fair on the 910 bluebird).

I don't have air-con. Gentlemen drift with air-con. Lol.

I didn't even test drive before i bought. my arse didn't fit in the bride he had. champ chucked a gt-r seat in when i bought. best thing i ever did was buy it, you missed out! :P

Anyways, yes. will call prestige in morning see what they can offer. cheers!

if you can't do the roof thingy tou wanna do , then it isn't all that difficult to weld in a new roof . I had heaps of people try and tell me that it was dodgy to weld in a new roof  untill i asked them how the roof was put there in the first place... (note i haven't touched my roof yet , but i will if i ever find a roof with a sunroof (or rear cut or whatever) cheap enough)

    • I totally couldn't do the whole kids taking up my life thing! 😮 I find it bad enough doing 45 hours in 4 days, and then fitting normal adulting life into the other 3 with no kids! As for my mates race cars, they're AMG C63 setup for production racing. The original is what has just been stripped and a brand new shell built. The original is then going away to have some panels straightened, then it will be put back together again. Then there's a third that will shortly head off to have a roll cage put in, then build it up too. And potentially a fourth to be built too... Oh, and he has two Renault Clio D class production cars, ha ha. And when he's not racing them in the Australians and QLD production championships, he's been racing one of Chaz Mostert's Lamborghini's in GT4. They just won GT4 at the 12 hour in the Lambo. We're pushing to finish the new AMG as it has its first round (and potentially its first shakedown/outing) in under w weeks for Round one of QPC, and that round is really the shakedown to make sure it's all good for the Bathurst 6 hour, which I'll be at too. Ha ha ha Working on my project is different to his, I slowly tinker and work ways to make things happen on a shoe string budget. Hes in a good position that he has a massive workshop full of parts and tools, ha ha. He also looks after me. When his air compressor died, he just needed it working, so bought himself a new one and gave the old to me. Sand blaster unit too, and a 20t pressing. And pretty much all the shelving in my shed too as he upgraded all of his (the stuff he gave me is the expensive black Bunnings heavy duty stuff)!   I enjoy working on his stuff. No decision paralysis, and anything that's needed parts wise is just there. Plus, then I get to be hands on at the track in real racing, not just club day stuff.

    • Yeah mate, no probs. Just swap the email addresses?
    • I definitely agree with you there - I never click on content for cars I would never ever be able to get or compete with/against/be seen next to. Seeing a MX5 compete with a FD RX7 will make people upset though, for sure. Even in 2.5L Turbo form which is pretty grass roots. (or at least as grass roots as classic cars can be) Yes we're all classic car owners now.
