Hey guys was just wondering about the Driving laws up there, I'm currently in Victoria and most probably will be moving back to brissy at the beginning of next year but Victorian law states that international students are allowed to drive on their international licenses until they complete their course...this has treated me very well as I have been able to drive my skyline and drink to 0.05 at the early ages of 20 and I dont have to deal with whole the point system. However I have just realized I cannot find the same laws in the Queensland transport laws so I was just wondering if any of you guys know about this? Hopefully I'll start seeing you guys on cruises by the beginning of next year

James

Ring them up. But the time I got pullover for redlight (during uni days), they only gave me a fine without any points deduction when I showed them my Singaporean license. I've since kept the license with me all the time.

from my experience working with guys on international licenses, i believe you have a 3month grace period to roll it over, however apparently its as simple as filling out a form at Queensland transport

as for when the 3month period starts i'm not sure sorry, and whether you go onto P laws or open laws i am unsure also

give qld transport a call :)

thats my 2cents :O

You only require a QLD licence if you are a permanent resident. Once you gain PR you have 3 months grace period to apply for a QLD licence otherwise you will be regarded as an unlicenced driver. You can drive on your international licence as an intl student. This is from my previous experience but the laws may have chged so just double chk.

international students should give me money

then i will like them

Hahah thanks for all the input guys, I'll investigate a little more but if I get accepted for my transfer from Monash to UQ i'll probably see you guys soon. Hopefully in some sort of GTR. But Col if you see the prices we pay for uni you'd be surprised if most international uni students have any money left!
