looking good simon, and wow that is lots of hacking. i like it.

are you in contact with cazman atm by any chance? need those R32 rear camber arms and toe rods but he's not replying :S

Hehe we were drifting together on GT5 yesterday.

^^ just for s14's? or like a universal kit?

more or less a universal kit... tho to suit an r32 there may be some extra trimming involved.

heres some more progress pics... i pick it up this arvo and then its off to Garage 7 where we will wire the bitch up :D

and now for a little sad news... Pulled the engine apart after all the drama;s i had with it boiling and running hot at G1... looks like its got seriously hot which it did as logged from coolant temps getting up to 135 degrees in a flash from 100;..Anyway head off and its melted plugs 1 and 6. Cyln 6 piston crown has melted and the ring land cracked due to the alloy changing properties. number 1 also got a bit hot but not as bad.

few other bits and pieces but yeah... needs repairs and a cooling system that works.

before people bag the tune.. its not tune related. running same tune for last 12 months of endless thrashing... it was the boiling coolant and high chamber temps that causes pre ignition :(

135 is super hot : (

can you put a coolant temp/intake temp ignition trim table in the ecu? get it to just flood it with fuel down to 9:1 as well if it ever gets that hot again?

call race radiators in vic. they suplied the radiator in our targa car and in a 600kw circuit 32. they can make them any shape and size but the important thing is that they make them cross flow as that makes a huge difference.

i think im right in saying that this wouldnt have been possible running a re tuned rom. with the haltec this should be easy.

nistune does have temp protection in the form of rich and retard.

but it all happened so quick :S

Yeah you have to set the coolant temp tables up more aggressively though, so that if it gets over 105c it just pulls all ignition and dumps 100% fuel. Do you know if they had been touched at all?

yeah but evidently not enough.. something the haltech should have a lot more control over.

got some other cool things happening// getting some carbon parts made up. Bought an RB26 head. got new pistons and rings on the way... motor should go back together soon

    • For something like this, I'd skip just going for the cheapest, I'd find the place with the best experiences people have had, especially for restoration work. Like everything, there is upholsterers, and then there is upholsterers. Some really great upholsterers for automotive restos won't even appear to have an online presence.   My guide would be find some of the old school classic cars that have been fully restored and are immaculate, and ask the people who own them who did the work on their seats
    • Might be tricky matching the seat trim material  If your got the funds you "may" want to get the rear re-trimed as well to match the front
    • How much is it to re-uploster?  Well that's a "how longs a piece of string?" question !  And I answer thusly: "twice half its length! " . . . . . .  Seriously you'll have to chase multiple quotes for that one from different uphlostrerereres !  Ask around, in your area and on the forums, chase reviews and most of all see the finished product in person cause photoshop is a wonderful thing !
    • Hey everyone!!  I've noticed that whenever I do my oil changes, after putting 4L in, the oil level sits at the top mark in the dipstick. This is after letting the old oil drain for a very long time too! I've checked the oil level daily for the past few mornings. It happens every time and it's confusing because all the threads say that it should take about 4.7L (With some just adding the full 5L) My next thought is to figure out if the dipstick I have is correct so could someone please tell me the length of the RB25DET engine oil dipstick?  I've checked images of some of the genuine dipsticks, but none of them have the length in it. https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-engine-oil-level-dipstick-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-stagea-c35-laurel-y34-cedric-gloria-rb25de-t-neo?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOortQXofgmiHVRKuIaiKuygL4k0Ewp68c3isGZk0vvKOJ7Yqf3iB However.... the engraving on the genuine ones say 05002 while mine says AA000. This makes me believe that maybe I have a wrong dipstick? I just want to confirm before I buy a new one. The car is a fresh import from Japan so I don't have details of the previous owner to ask him. Thanks in advance 🙏🏾
    • Sport. I didn’t rebleed it cause I just removed the slave and left connected.    I will change line and slave and see how it goes.
