My car has been running very hot for a while in between half and 3/4, i just recently got my radiator flushed and was told it was 85% blocked :flamed:

They also informed me at the time i needed a welsh plug replaced.

ANYWAY The car still seems to be running hot its not dropping any water now though.

Also how easy is to do a head gasket on a r32 could this be possible? i have checked and so far found no evidence.

i'd buy a second hand or reco'd radiator and get the welsh plug fixed...

you can warp the gasket.... but i dont think your car is getting hot enough to do that.... but act on it asap cause the longer you leave it the more damage that can happen later... and the more you "get used to it"

Happened to my dad.... he found out the hard way ....Boom!!!!

$$$$$$ later reco'd engine. Goes better now!! (it was a Jackaroo)

yeah Pekatu thats normal

It should always stay at 1/2 no matter what. Any more and your in trouble!! I learnt this the hard way, i blew the head gasket on my last car and it cost me $$$

The stock gauge is fairly accurate, but an aftermarket one it will go up or down +/- a few degree's depending if you thrash it or just cruising...

Always keep coolent/water in your boot and if you ever see the guage go over 1/2 pull over before it gets too hot and see where a leak may be. Then top up your radiator and cruise your car to home/mechanics

You might want to take a look at ur thermostat. In other words buy a new one cause there not expensive. They have a tendancy to jam half open wich will cause your car to run hot. If it was the head gasket you would be using heaps more fuel that u usually do and there would be a lot of black smoke out the exhaust from richness. Worth a thought.

Cheers

How does a blown head gasket cause the car to use more fuel?

It will often allow water to get into the combustion chambers, giving white smoke out the exhaust, or may let oil in, with a bluer smoke out the exhaust.

Try the thermostat. If that doesnt work, do the waterpump, and make sure you bleed the system of air, there are bleed bolts (10mm head on my R31) on the intake plenum/manifold.

Good luck.
