I know its not necessary to go external on this turbo and what not, i am going for pure wank factor with it... as it is a drift car and all about standing out lol

I was thinking turbosmart ultragate 38mm?

Anyone else running something different, maybe using an Rb25 turbo?

Definately 38mm, no bigger. Up to you what brand. The Tial MV-S is the most compact and newest design.

how do ya actually put them exteral waste gates on when u got an internal 1 already fitted?

Weld shut the internal gate, or remove it entirely (some rear housings make this possible i believe).

Then you need to attach external somewhere, be that the turbine housing or via manifold.

Basically you waste a severe amount of money for nothing, chalky we've told you to forget about it already, please take the advise on.

No bigger than a 38mm gate, hell even that might have issues controlling boost as the factory is about 20-25mm i think at a half educated guess.

The bigger you go, the more problems you have with volumes of air etc etc. See you only need to bleed of "x" air depending on how much boost you need.

If you are only needed to bleed a small amount then the gate hoevers around a slightly open/closed point, giving boost controll issues.

I would think hard about doing this on such a small turbo.

Esp. read the SK wastegate sizing thread. It will tell you what size wastegate you need, and 38mm would be overkill IMO.
