and you thought gordos bad luck had ended....

Recommended Posts

well guys it seems that he now has a new silver drivers side door that we replaced last nite after a truck almost took the old door right off

im sure he will tell the story in more detail and with pics he took

i hope this badluck has ended now for sure

goodluck gordo

Thats farked up gordo.

I got more bad news for Gordo. The QLD government is following the vic tosser labour government and putting in a whole lot of fixed speed cameras in Brisbane and Gold Coast even tho the vic ones were found to be faulty.

Looks like the qld premieris even more of a ***wit than bracks (if that is possible)

yeah gordo is ok guys

he stayed at my house last nite like we sorta planned already, fixed it up last nite, now hes in dubbo stopping over for the nite

also it looks like he will have to replace the drivers side front guard too as its a bit too bent from where the door slammed into it

we got it pretty good for the rest of the trip tho

JEEBUS! - I think there's a Victorian curse out on that car. Glad to hear you OK - but sh*t, we wanted to hear tales from your trip involving Danish hitchhikers in bikinis - not this.

Hope the rest of the ride is super-uneventful.

hehe.. nah, don't want to sell it at this point.. its too much fun having a car like that around here, and these things are when i'm *not* being stupid which sucks the most. Panels can easily be replaced. Anyhow, here are a couple of pix. It looks better now with the door at least. $600 and it should be good as new, could have been worse.

Shouldn't have stopped on the highway - stupid i know, i should know better and i've done plenty of highway driving before. Just one of those things. Stopped 'cause i thought i heard a ticking noise, and also thought i'd check the oil, water, etc. Unfortunately i just left the door the slightest bit open, not even what you'd consider that open and i was only there for a few seconds. Car wasn't parked that close to the edge of the road either. This huge road train (double semi - huge ****er!) comes by, i think "jeez, thats big".. and as the 2nd "carriage" goes past, the backdraft rips the door forward a bit. I can't run back to close it or i would have got slammed myself, and then wooosh.. before i know it the door blows out to right angles and SMASH.. rips the window clean off (goodbye tint.. meh, it was scratched anyhow), bends the door into pretty much an L-shape, and buggers the door trim. So I'm just in shock at that point. Truck just keeps driving, not sure whether he heard or just didn't give a shit (i think the later). So about 100km from Albury where i was meeting with Kamikazee to drop off his amp, don't know what to do so, **** it, i get in the car, and cruise down the Hume for 100km holding the door with one arm and driving with the other.. hoping like hell no cop makes me get it towed ($$$$), but i was lucky and about an hour later (going 110km/hr like that..lol) i make it into town, with everybody looking strangely at me.

Just watch out if you're ever on the highway, 'cause trucks couldn't give a flying shit about any car. If you're in the way you're just a hassle for them.

Can't thank Kamikazer33 enough for helping me. Without him, would have really ****ed up my whole trip, and I wasn't holding much hope of fidning a 33 door, and was thinking one would have to be shipped up, etc but it did work out and i didn't lose anytime in the end. There was a good Japwreck place Justin knew about, so we went there and they had all sorts of half cuts and stuff. We put the door on that night, and its been fine ever since. $300 for a whole door is a bargain too

Anyhow, i'm here staying at my mates just back from Broadbeach until i find a place to share in Brisbane. Its awesome!! Some slight damage to my car doesn't really worry me when i'm doing what i really want to do with my life..

hey hey gordo, haven't talk to ya for ages. wat's this QLD business?? holiday or u going to live/work up there now??

anyways, glad to hear fixing the door wasn't too big a problem. I thought it would be a problem too, being that u were in albury, but all's well that ends well.

good luck with the plans u have.

chinny.

    • I'm pretty much healed up post surgery so I spent another almost full day out in the shed re-arranging everything to make room for all of the shit that I've taken off the car.  I need to get everything off the floor and away from the car for when I start making a massive mess stripping off the remaining body deadener and then for the the painting process.  Almost got the shed to a point now where I feel I can actually start working on the car again (clean shed clean mind or something!).  Almost 11 years of accumulated car parts, building supplies, tools, junk, etc have taken a long time to get in some sort of order again!  Most stuff is now boxed up and in the back shed if it's not car related.  Most people would still be horrified walking into my shed but it's significantly better than it was before!   For those that saw my separate post the other day, yeah I ordered one.... This version- I convinced myself to stop being a clown, wake up to yourself and realise it will take you 5 weeks to make one by which stage you're over working on the car again...  Maybe I am getting on top of my "mental ailments" and making smarter choices.... $1450 delivered which will take my miserable half-dutch arse a few days to get over having spent that much!  If I don't have a use for it straight away after my car is off it I might even see if there is a "rental market" for them.  See if anyone wants to hire it for a period of time.  $25 a week or something like that.  I'll worry about that when my car is actually ready to come off it though as that might be a while away!! There's now no excuses now for not ending up with an underside you could eat off! Away for kids sport the next few weekends so hopefully can get the rotisserie assembled ready to go for the car to go straight on it the next available weekend.
    • I always use my Karcher, but it's only a little one that I picked up from Supercheap  The only issue I ever had with a pressure washer was when I was a kid cleaning coaches, they had a hi-po industrial sized petrol jobbie that would strip paint if you got to close I saying this, we have a fairly high power washer at work with a diesel powered heater that sprays water at about 60°c, it works great for removing old wax and road grime on the underbody after some foam cannon action, albeit from a "stand off" distance of a few feet
    • Sorry no - The sandtrap adventure ended the day, happened at the end of the last session. At that time I wasn't hearing any weird noises nor were the brakes shuddering anymore. It was only when watching the videos that I remembered I had these sounds early on!
    • Did the noise appear after your sand trap adventure? Could be something got dislodged and is playing rub rub. Even a rock wedged somewhere.
    • Is there a shroud around the tailshaft spline into the back of the box? They can rub and make a horrible noise if they are not on straight/damaged. The heat might have caused it to grow too much in one direction and rub.
