Both styles have there pros and cons.

I like the parcel shelf one but the belts will be on a slight incline and alot of length to the fixing point.(fab by bond maybe)

The other is the one that bolts to the stock upper and lower belt points but impedes access to the rear seats, which means another thing to change before and after a track day(meridian sell them)

Any feedback is appreciated, Thanks Mark.

And before you ask - a cage is out due to me needing rear seats

Hey Mark,

Just keep an eye on the angle of the harness to where its bolted in to.

I had mine using the rear seat belt mounting points, but was told by a CAMS scruitineer it was outside the 42 degree angle limit I think?

Go rear parcel shelf one :(

LOL

yah half cage would be good!

IIRC I think there could be a cusco type bar for the rear parcel shelf?

OR, if your pretty cluey and handy with the tools, you could make a braket up in the boot/parcel shelf where you can screw the harness bolts into?

I think Ill just get one made as I CNBF, Im going to go to Bond tomorrow and see what they can do for me.

Im a metal worker by trade but I havent fabed anything for a while and all my tools went in the last robbery(bastards).

There is only so much you can do with a cordless, tool box of sockets and spanners some cable ties and a half roll of gaffa tape.

When is the next track day LOL

Bond will not do a harness bar-unless it is intergrated into a roll cage, bugger. Im waiting for Meridian to get back to me.

I pulled my rear seat out to see how I could fab one up but there in not alot I can do which I whould deem safe and sturdy as the rear section has the right and left hand sides of the parcel tray tapering down.

Looks like Ide need 2 sky hooks, LOL

I really like the meridian style harness bars. nice short run between the shoulders and mounting point.

with the rear parcel shelf you absolutely must reinforce it, the shelf itself is not strong enough to safely mount a harness (ie it will be less safe than stock belts).

and yes Chris I agree the standard rear seat mounting is not right either, its too low. The cams book is quite clear about the "desirable" and "acceptable" angles. the close to 90o the better

what about some thing like my 1min paint sketch. I was thinking along these lines for my R34

post-21501-1256271864_thumb.jpg

if you used some decent riggin screw you put it in the car in 2 parts easily then tighten it correctly.

although it would look preety agricultural, but certainly would work.

regards

Chris

Thanks for the input but I'm going with a half cage with harness bar from Bond. Two birds with one stone, I can rig my harness safely and if I put it on its roof my head wont get squished.

Hopefully.
