Lets just all keep our pants on here.

I've been getting calls on Kumho tyres all day today and yesterday.

I AM NOT A KUMHO DEALER.

I am a Federal dealer. I sell Federal tyres only and the club members get them at a very good price. I'm not into price wars or beating other peoples prices so everyone can forget about it.

I buy a tyre, I sell it at the same margin. If another Federal dealer wants to match it or beat it, that is their decision. I will match any price on Federal products only.

If you want a very cheap semi slick that does a good job, then maybe the Kumho is for you. If you want a cheap semi slick that does a good job, then maybe the Federal is for you.

I haven't done a comparison between the two to know what kind of mileage the Kumho's are getting but we are seeing 5-6 time attack days out of the RS-R in our 600hp GTR with the occasional 4 wheel drift around turn 3/4 and 6.

The car does approx 500-1000ks between track days on the street also.

What I can say is that none of our tyres have delaminated. I have heard of a few of the Kumhos doing this and I can say that all the Federal tyres are DOT coded within the last 6 months. Not 8 years old like some of the KU36's that are getting around

Care to elaborate on this?

I'd be careful throwing anecdotal evidence around like this. Federal's reputation isn't stellar either, and I have a couple of other mates who aren't on this forum who've had their 595s get ripped to shreds on the track.

Each brand will have their flaws or occasional problems but Federal never offloaded a shit tonne of their old product at cheap prices.

All of the Kumho stuff coming out now is all new stuff, though, so anything bought now is going to be ok. But it still doesn't excuse the fact that a large company can do something like that and then not expect anyone to say anything.

If you've got a tyre with an 8 year old DOT code, then be prepared for what may happen, that is all I am saying.

Federal may be far from the best and may have it's fair share of problems but as a company they will back their product and any claim made against them will be dealt with professionally.

Nah, that is fair enough and it's bullshit.

I know that some independent tyre retailers parallel import tyres, and have them sitting there for god knows how long (Toyo complained about it on their web site with people flogging off R888s), but to have an official distributor do it is a complete joke.

bahaha, so u guys dont even supply kuhmo? wow how embarrassing for fineline, i almost feel bad now, almost.

No, I'm only interested in dealing with quality products.

And I think if you read back, he never said I dealt with Kumho tyres. He said QLD club members can already get the Federal tyres and linked to the members forum.

if you read back i never mentioned federals, i was talking about KU36's, if fineline misinterpreted or jumped to conclusions that's his mistake. looks like fineline went on a wild argument about something completely separate to what i was talking about, lol. looks like my original statement of option selling the KU36's the cheapest which is what fineline chucked a tanty about, is correct :S

I don't really give a fuck who said what. You guys can argue all you like.

I don't care who buys what tyre or what happens to what tyre on what car. Knowing Fineline very well, I know that it is obvious you have said something somewhere else that was stupid so he is probably just trying to stir you up.

Sort it out with him somewhere else.

The thread is about bang for buck tyres. So if you want Federals at KU36 prices, then come see me.

obviously whatever i said he took quite hard and sat with him, i sure as fuck cant remember anything.

you "mate" fineline is the one that turned this thread to shit with personal attacks, if you've got an issue with thread direction take it up with him.

my reccomendation is import some Dulop Direzza Z1 star spec's from the states, some guy got some 235/45 R17's for $250, and that will piss all almost any other road tyre, certainly any tyre sold in Aus, it's only real competitors are the newest offerings from Yokohama and Bridegstone (RE-11 and AD08), im waiting on dunlops replacement tyre as the Z1 star spec's are an old tyre compared to the RE-11 and AD08.

Stop embarrassing yourself you fool. Go read it again and show me where i ever mentioned Khumo.

i dont need to, YOU attacked ME when i was talking about Kuhmos, you're the one that misunderstood me and jumped to the conclusion that i was talking about federals. you f**ked up, i dont have to explain shit.

maybe i need to take a few notes from ur book about being clear, i mean after all there was clearly no confusion about the tyres u were talking about, everyone knew u were talking about federals here:

Tell you what lad. You have the advertised price of the company you are touting. Now contact Elite racing and get their price.

As a fee for your enlightenment I will take the difference between the 2 if it is in The favour of ERD and I will pay you the difference if it is in favour of OG.

oh wait...

I've been getting calls on Kumho tyres all day today and yesterday.

and in case you're a little puzzled by the confusion i might be able to help u out, see here's the post you quoted (quite clearly talking about KU36's)

wow, you sound like a bundle of fun, bet ur a hit at parties.

option garage have been supplying KU36's at rock bottom prices for ages, i thought a nice harmless plug was in order, i personally havent seen them any cheaper anywhere else, even my sponsor cant get them to me that cheap without dipping into cost. but if u know a place that does them cheaper id be glad to hear it.

btw im going off his prices here on his site:

http://www.option1garage.com.au/NewTyres.htm

and this is the reply you posted with my quote:

this part is my favourite:

the price i gave was clearly for KU36's, then you requested me to contact elite and get their price, logic would tell you that u meant for KU36's since that would, well, make sense right?

this might, just might explain why people thought you meant elite had KU36's at better prices than option.

NEW STICKERS????

The new Federal stickers with a Metallic Charcoal surrounded by reflective outline.

You haven't seen the new stickers? Scotty told me he gave them to you and you loved them?

I'll try to dig up a photo of the GTR with them on if I have one

I am keen to try the RE-11 when the KU36's are dead. RE001's were brilliant on the stagea, so if they can be as far ahead of other tyres in the class like the RE001, then I think I will be rather happy.

from what i've heard the RE-11's are amazing, but as always they will be bloody expensive, and doubt they will be sold in aus. the Z1 star specs are a good jump from the KU36's without going too ridiculous with the $$
