haha, another thing i like about the dirty old sr. dont need to drop the engine to swap the sump. just unbolt the pan, and bolt the new one up.

True. I must say I've been toying with the idea lately of pulling the motor out, doing sump, head gasket, restrictor mod and replacing bearings. I dunno, I'll see how I go :(

Sounds good mate, just let me know when and I'll be there.

I got mine from someone selling it on NS, managed to pick it up for $450.

As for the bigger sump, the motor will have to come out, a mod I'd love to do on mine but I've always said if the motor comes out, I'll rebuild at the same time

thats the easy part. ive got a mechanics workshop at my disposal and we can pull it out and back in ourselves but ive got no idea how to replace the sump

but should be a fun learning process none the less

Do it man :(

Hey Luke, been meaning to ask, how do you find the ARC air box over say twin pods?

Pods = HAI = Fail

Air Box = CAI = Win

dunno. dont know that area. was on the south side of adelaide.

Dave, it's called Southies Revenge........remember that little Rick Roll incident :(

in all seriousness, I hope you get it sorted bud......you only just got the red beast back on the road :)

as far as the Rick Rolling goes, don't ever try that on the ns site......you'll receive a life ban, just ask Roo....."just quietly" I think it was more to do with his blue mesh! :(

haha, cheers dude. just running some quick sums, assuming im right and the chassis is still straight (no visible damage to rails, and while it was a hard hit, it wasnt a hard hit) and i replace the exhaust as well, should see change from $1k (sub $500 if i dont replace the exhaust).

but time will tell i spose.

either way, looks like ill be smashing out some overtime the next few months.

Usually abnormal margins between bonnet and fenders / fenders and doors can tell you if anything is out of whack. Sometimes it just means the car has been crashed before and the job wasn't done well.

all the gaps are the same as they were before. yay.

gonna start pulling shit off when i finish work i reckon.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R disappeared in the mid-2000's. Scan of a magazine with the black R33 from 1996: Option magazine with a few photos from the Cockpit Tatebayashi booth at the Auto Salon from various years: 2002: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=154&image_id=3507 2003: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=137&image_id=3033 2005: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=116&image_id=1831 In 2008 Cusco website mentions that the Cockpit Tatebayashi ECR33 was displayed at that year's Tokyo Auto Salon: https://www.cusco.co.jp/event/2008/12/post_735.html As of 2021 it appears that the ECR33 demo car ended up being exported to Florida, USA: https://rmcmiami.com/inventory/1996-nissan-skyline-r33-cockpit-tatebayashi-demo-car-big-te06-turbo-endless-brakes-lsd-450hp/ Apologies for nerding out a bit. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
    • Try fabricating something like this and install it under the pedals? Not sure if it's legal or not....
    • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
    • Also, there's always room for 4 or 5 3/8" drive wobble extensions of various lengths so you can operate the ratchet from a better location.
