While I'm here ...

Can anyone tell me, or point me to a link, as to how a GTR/260 gearbox pull-type clutch fork mates up with the pull-type clutch kit, so the clutch engages properly. Push type I know you just slide things on. But is there a trick to fitting the GTR box to a pull type pressure plate and carrier?

Thanks >_<

while i was picking up my car i asked this qeustion today as my intention was to drop by and help.... unfortunataly i didn't sleep last night and afterwashing my car i had a quick cat nap that i only just woke up from =\

i know there a BARSTARD to get off (right matty/blue 32) =P

but apparently you can assemblem the forks and everything and then set up the thrust bearing and just "click" them into place! soooo much easier than removing them!

That's 'cos I killed the pigeon with my gas when I was changing your turbo

normally id be inclined to agree, but i didnt put the hks piping on until just before the private day.

Chuck up some specs :)

Its a 88 model was auto by the looks of it, RB20 it pretty much stock engine wise. Its supposed to has a Autech ball bearing turbo, Nismo suspension and a fairly new Exedy clutch which a cant seam to take off without chirping the rears :D It def needs moar powers as it has trouble spining the wheels in second. Rims are 15's with 205's so i'll keep them for sliding as they are easy to replace and i'll see if my drifteks fit on the front.

What should RB20's rev too? 7000?

Most definitely.

1998 Black R33 GTR series 3.

~100k km,

400R Front Bar,

HKS 2530 turbos,

18" Nismo LMGT4 wheels,

Loud. Fast. Unbelievable!

PM me if you want to know more.

dang it, i so didn't want anything to do with this thread grrrr

be more aggresive with the clutch, 20's got enough power to slide a ceffy lol

Pretty sure its just running standard boost, its not very fast atm. It may still have an auto diff as well which wouldn't help.

Sounds like awesome fun man.

I'd be inclined to rev a Rb20 to like 7,500?

God hearing about you having a track cars really gives me the itch to hurry up and convert my S13 to manual.

hmmm

Im off for a spin in the hills

wish I could sort out my ecu and get back to 7200rpm limiter

currently cuts at 6500, some sort of issue with the AEM F/IC-8 ecu I have, as the remaped stock ecu is set to 7200

meh, changes gear right in the meat of the power delivery so it isnt too bad.

surprising tho that a little 700rpm means my car is down ~15rwkw

ie 6500rpm = 240kw, 7200rpm = 250kw+ going by the dyno graph(s)

Sounds like awesome fun man.

RB20's semi redline at 7000 and full redline 7500.

My limiter was ~8000rpm.

Went for a spin in my managers R33 S2 tonight lol, it did give me a Skyline fix thats for sure.

    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
    • yeah, there's a country that recently started importing Skylines, I blame them.
    • I don't have a printer, but could at least attempt to make a printable model.
    • If you do make them, im sure you would have a number of buyers.. Every GTR I've been in have rattly door windows
