I totally agree with both dohmar and heslo, hence why I spent the amount of money on my GT-R that I did. I can see that GT-R being a nugget and chewing a bearing straight away, personally I'd steer clear.

...and them guys are telling me to buy a $13k lawn ornament. :)

just because someone thinks it Might be a nugget doesn't mean it is

if you cant afford to buy it and have it sit there then yes its a bad purchase, BUT if you can afford to buy a cheap gtr then if it breaks do a rebuilt the actual rest of the car interior and exterior look like they've been well looked after

hence my thoughts it may be a genuine sale

the guy says his comp test is 160 flat on all cylinders with proof - i wouldnt knock that - sure the carbon fiber bonnet looks like arse but he says he needs to sell due to lack of funds - far from a lawn ornament

-D

Edit - Agree with Steve here, it has potential

Everything looks good in photos, I've seen photos of GTRs that look clean as in photos but when I went to inspect its had a piss poor paint job - paint chipping cracking flaking along edges of window seals - not a cheap fix. You think its just about the engine? Sure, throw $10k into that and the engine its all good but what about the drivetrain, paint, interior and suspension? A cheap GTR is going to end up costing a shitloads more than a half descent GTR that cost twice as much as a "cheap GTR".

Ben, if you look closely theres a bubble on the dash.

i see it now, but it is a small one

hope im not bursting a bubble here when i say that any GTR, even a $30k is going to have at least some of the issues you've just mentioned. Virtually none of them have perfect interiors or drivetrains, paint and suspension. I've spent $25k+ on the car after purchase over the last 3 years for the mandatory stuff like rego, insurance, tyres, raa, servicing etc to replacing worn components (mechanical and interior), getting paint touch ups, 100k service, brake refurbishment etc etc

I can almost 100% guarantee you that there are very few 32 gtr (or 33gtr for that matter) owners who haven't sunk a chunk of cash into their cars after purchase. I still have another $20k of stuff on my shopping list that I want to do, but I'm doing a full restoration and rebuild over an extended period of time. ...

Far from it, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Then again, I wouldn't be buying a GTR with a budget in mind. Can't skimp on these cars sadly, when you do, they cost you assloads more in the long run

i purchased mine and haven't spent a cent on repairs, only on modifying with go-fast bits and servicing (which shouldn't be counted anyway as it's a necessity with any car) Just be picky from the get go, expect the best, and get the best. But yes, a premium must be paid. That being said, I searched 6 months for my car, looking at about 50 plus cars, then found mine, a low KM, freshly imported series 3, for $30k. Which, for 2 years ago, was damned cheap and is still priced reasonably these days. Just be patient, good things come to those who wait

$30k would fetch a pretty good example of an R32 GTR - rebuilt engine, suspension, drivetrain etc... it would make a much better base to start off with than a $13k heap of junk your trying to tell me is a good buy.

...and did I ever say I wanted a PERFECT example of an R32 GTR? I swear I thought I saw Wayne posting that.

Your not busting any bubbles, I know what I'm getting into and its not going to be a $13k "cheap GTR".

Hmm exactly 160 psi in each cylinder on the comp test = lie. They always have a small amount of difference between the cylinders. If it is that good, and its genuinely cheap because he needs cash, why isn't it sold?? Buyer beware comes to mind.....

Muchly agree

i think 13k is worth the risk that it might be a genuine sale fly to Perth have a look @ it buy it and put it on the train for home then spend $1000 change all fluids and get leak down and compression tests done so you know what your dealing with

if it has poor compression drive it easy if its all good smile all the way to the track

EDIT

if i had the abilities to acquire 13k i would snap it up today

'Easy Finance' is your friend Steve

13k sounds like a 20yo bomb about to explode

maybe but i don't have 13k to waste either its only a good project if you have the money to just buy a car and have it go wrong from day one and rebuild the engine

obviously if the photo's are lieing and the interior is rubbish and exterior needs a bucket load of work that 13k will quickly become another 30+ k fixing little things

What a night it was. Some very weird women at the Palais last night, definatly kept me entertained
Yes, it sure was. Don't forget about that creepy looking guy that was sussing you out haha. And James..... jesus. Very dissapointed in you.... :D

after the Palais closed we went to another hotel in the hope of Jagers, but no such luck :(

Yes, yes there was :)

guys i had the best time it was great i have never laughed so hard ever thanx we must do it again

xxxxx

I wouldn't make a judgement on a GTR by its price tag. I would check all cars that I was seriously considering and take them to a GTR specialist (ask other members on here for places to go to interstate) and get the car checked out, compression tested, dyno tested etc whether they were $13k or $125k.

GTRs eat $. More so if you can't work on them yourself. But they are a lot of fun :)

I agree with Madaz .... and the seller even goes so far as to say he has been offered $13k cash from a dealer, and is desperate to sell immediately, so that is what he is prepared to let it go for. If a dealer is willing to pay $13k cash then he will retail it for anywhere between $18k-$23k .... so the car may well be worth that.

I bought that silver 33 4 door with a 26 init for 10grand that ran in the 11's

That was cheap and far from blowing up anytime soon as I know the past owners and including myself have given that thing a hard life.

Only sold it because I got more then I paid for it haha other wise I'd still be thrashing it out today.
