I deleted mine a few weeks ago; It's a time-waster with lax security/privacy settings...

Hrmmmm .. $150 seems cheap; I got a nistune put in my ECU months ago from the groupbuy, still haven't had it tuned. Anything to get a bit more power and fuel economy would be awesome... especially at that sorta money...

I know, $150s cheaper than I would have expected, but then again if it only takes them an hour or maybe two, then thats pretty much spot on...

I'm getting some nismo AFMs put in tomorrow and a retune - if we can't get it sorted then I may take the car to boostworx just for the tune, we'll see what happens

keeping in mind what its gonna be used in.

K-GO!

Yep, go the NPC, seems a pretty good clutch all round, especially for the price and better than that shit Extreme(ly crap) puts out

i remap will only be done after a full tune

remap = touch up tune full tune will cost you about $450 @ boostworx JRM to i think don't quote me i can ask on friday for people $600 with Martin Donnon less club member discount

Pretty sure Martin charges $500 Steve, $450 for SAU:SA members IIRC

Errr air/fuel ratio on my SAFCII? Like he did on my R34 and got 20 more rwkw out of it.

Haven't got it fitted yet though to the 35 (haven't had time to get out my soldering iron).

I'll call boostworx tomorrow to confirm this price. I have access to a RWD dyno so I may very well play around with the tune myself - that said boostworx have a track record with skylines and are literally in walking distance from my mechanic so I'm keen on giving them a shot if I get stuck...

I like places that do conservative tunes

whats wrong with a knock tune!!!

heh, nothing if u made ur engine to tolerate that stuff but me, i got a daily... i dont need a tune that hardcore - would rather go 10kw less to make sure it doesnt knock even in the worst circumstances

EDIT - Just had some fun at home. One of my brothers snakes got out of its enclosure (one out of a dozen) and I was in the room looking for a box of pizza shapes and I turn around and theres this python just looking at me... dude was a little lower than my head but we were looking at each other, and he was having a good sniff... and I think the both of us were thinking "Oh hey, what the f**k..." looked like one of the smaller snakes he had cause its head was really thin, but decided against trying to wrangle it myself - got my bro and he pulled the wires out and extracted a 2.5 mt green python from the back of the couch....

yeah... im glad I erred on expert help - they might not be venomous but their bites still hurt

Any idea on what would be causing my rb20 not to rev past 4500rpm?

It virtually hits an invisible brick wall...

*no brick wall jokes.

Do you have a PowerFC Jake? My brother-in-law has just had this exact issue (plus intermittent spark plug reporting issues on his MFD) in his R33GTR and turns out the PowerFC was knackered.

Writeoff had a buggered powerfc. IIRC he sent it back to nengun who said there was nothing wrong with it... and then promptly sent it back

David now has in his GTR the PowerFC out of the R32GTR that was written off in Targa Tasmania the other week. All works perfectly now.

He is getting the final tune done on his brand new VSpec Nur engine next week with the HKS 2530s. Can't wait to see what number he makes, but I expect it to be a little bit over 300rwkw. Not bad for a daily.

lol is that the r32 that flipped a couple times nose-tail and they bent just about everything on the car?

wicked crash that

300-340kw would be what I'm aiming for with the turbo/manifold upgrade...

Negative on the Power FC, Andrew.

I don't understand.

Im fairly sure my #6 coilpacks is stuffed, hence why im changing coilpacks. Once the engine gets warm..after 10 minutes, it breaks into 5 cylinders, and make's WRX owners envious of my engine.

However, tonight, i did not have an issue at all..drove for about 40 minutes, except for this problem of it limiting itself to 4500rpm.

I'm going to have to assume it has something to do with the coilpacks, as the problem has just 'magically' disappeared, but this new problem has come about.

AFM wouldnt be knackered, it would be obvious there was earlier im the rev range i would think?

    • Very decent bit of kit. Definitely black it out I reckon.
    • Because people who want that are buying euros. The people with the money to buy the aftermarket heads and blocks aren’t interested in efficiency or making -7 power, they’re making well over 1,000hp and pretty much only drive them at full throttle  best way to way make money is know your customer base and what they want and don’t spend money making things they don’t want.
    • It's not, but it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity regardless. For example, what if the cylinder head was redesigned to fit a GDI fuel system? It's worth like two full points of compression ratio when looking at modern GDI turbo vs PFI turbo. I'm pretty reliably surprised at how much less turbo it takes to make similar power out of a modern engine vs something like an RB26. Something with roughly the same dimensions as a -7 on an S55 is making absolutely silly power numbers compared to an RB26. I know there's a ton of power loss from things like high tension rings, high viscosity oil, clutch fan, AWD standby loss, etc but it's something like 700 whp in an F80 M3 vs 400 whp in an R33 GTR. The stock TF035HL4W turbos in an F80 M3 are really rather dinky little things and that's enough to get 400 whp at 18 psi. This just seems unwise no? I thought the general approach is if you aren't knock limited the MFB50 should be held constant through the RPM range. So more timing with RPM, but less timing with more cylinder filling. A VE-based table should accordingly inverse the VE curve of the engine.
    • I've seen tunes from big name workshops with cars making in excess of 700kW and one thing that stood out to me, is that noone is bothering with torque management. Everyone is throwing in as much timing as the motor can take for a pull. Sure that yields pretty numbers on a dyno, but it's not keeping these motors together for more than a few squirts down the straight without blowing coolant or head gaskets. If tuners, paid a bit more attention and took timing out in the mid range, managed boost a bit better, you'll probably see less motors grenading. Not to name names, or anything like that, but I've seen a tune, from a pretty wild GT-R from a big name tuner and I was but perplexed on the amount of timing jammed into it. You would have expected a quite a bit less timing at peak torque versus near the limiter, but there was literally 3 degrees of difference. Sure you want to make as much as possible throughout the RPM range, but why? At the expense of blowing motors? Anyhow I think we've gone off topic enough once again lol.
    • Because that’s not what any of them are building these heads or blocks for. It’s to hold over over 1000hp at the wheels without breaking and none of that stuff is required to make power
