does anyone know where the heck i can get some of these style clamps from today?

they are called "constant tension" , "preformed" or spring band clamps"

from my understanding, they are a factory-only style clamp, and are rarely sold aftermarket.

Tridon make them, as do a few other smaller brands.

need some 23 and 25mm ones TODAY, and have already tried the following:

sprints

repco

supercheap

universal fastners

motor traders

pirtek

enzed

CBC

any other suggestions?

Give them guys a buzz see if they got it.

Ive only ever heard that from you. Been running gates belt for over a year and never noticed any difference in noise.

the only time you should really hear a timing belt is when its on too tight and it'll make a buzzing or humming sound.

Whats it going in? sell me the head cheap so I can build a RB30DET for my drift car :)

I am building up a RB27 - RB25 Block with 26 Crank, Rods with over-sized Pistons, along with having Pon/Pro Cams and porting on the head. So the head isn't for sale, but you are welcome to buy the cam covers or swap for RB26 cam covers plus cash your way.

i suspect thatll be a no go Wayne, Abe searched for ages to find that 25 head!

Indeed I did, found via Facebook, thanks to Dion for pointing it out for me, and I picked it up for a decent price too, $350.

I wouldn't put those on my car, fact is when i replace the hoses they go in the junk box

the custom one on my 3lt is a dayco / gates generic one and its hummed from day dot. Its installed correctly as well (using two tensioners to get the correct spec) so it may be a luck of the draw.

FWIW i wouldnt use a trust / gates painted belt either as they have no stretch on the coating and go tight as the motor warms up.

Std nissan parts at all times, unless there's a reason (ie like dark mentioned with the water pump elongated hole bs)

so abe do i get to take the valve covers to use for carbon fibre molds? you can have them back unscathed , timing covers too???? intake plenum ???

let me know if you want help porting and polishing the head, gasket matching the ports ? done a few in my day..lol

crack test with tracer dye... the head before doing anything to it

and gates belts rock, they used to make them down the road from me in USA, gates batteries(optima as well)

Shit yeah!

Series hybrid at low speeds, at higher speeds the engine directly drives the wheels but there can still be some power bled off to charge the battery + the electric motor can still provide parallel assistance too. It's really only a question of will at that point. Toyota's PHEVs are selling incredibly well at the moment because of the flexibility. You can run on EV mode when it makes sense, but if you're planning on doing a long highway drive you can still fire up the gas engine and not have to worry about dealing with the rather miserable state of public charging infrastructure.
    • Only reason to keep a MAF on your RB25 is to be able to easily calculate true VE if you know what the factory voltage curve represents in grams per second of flow. Also allows you to do things like pull the original OEM ignition + AFR target tables and use those as a starting point for your base map. Once you're well and truly done tuning though there's no need to retain the MAF.
    • Do you think they'll merge there performance divisions and we'll end up HoMo?
    • Very true, if buying new, I would not get an PP either. Minimum is an Elite 2500, which is also considered outdated. Get something that supports DBW, delete that cable throttle. Best thing I've ever done to the Skyline, next best is refreshing the A/C with a new condenser. It's cold, but not as cold as modern car, but colder than most 90s JDM shit boxes imported into Australia.
