Fuuuuuck, cars on the trailer ready to go. Had some 'issues' with fitting the R33 GT-R wheels on the front as they just knicked the strut *ffs*

Anyone coming out to Mallala tomorrow that could bring out a pair of bolt on spacers I could maybe borrow for the day?

I possiably have a mate that is going home to try n swap his bolt ons with a slip on to make sure all clearances but just covering all bases!

Love you all - hahaha

Thats why i run 27mm bolt ons on the front of the ceffy. Rubs on the strut like a bitch.

Heyas

Well a few of u guys know that I've been having "issues" with my gtr for the last year or so

figured out it was due to incorrectly set factory TDC value on the cams, which had been hacked in the ecu to get it to run right (thanks Century20...asshats)

heres a rundown of the last few months

Firstly, Car had std everything, was pulling 210kw at 14psi when i bought it, which was normal. after a couple of years the stock injectors started to leak, and that forced me to buy new ones, so I figured a cheap upgrade would be worthwhile - 575cc upgrade was cheaper than 444cc, however this necessitated a retune and for a retune to be possible, a nistune daughterboard was required.

Before I had the nistune, my mechanic reduced the fuel rail pressure to lean out the flow so it wasnt running so rich which was great. I got some economy but it was still running too rich to get decent power... this did 180kw but it was running stupendously rich - this is the tune I went away to loxton on, dion and krishy can attest that i was blowing tonnes of soot out the rear end

Then I got the nistune daughterboard installed and took the car to boostworx for a tune, shaun's standard gtr image was loaded and adjusted for the bigger injectors and the nismo afm's id installed the day before. he said that he felt the cam timing was out, perhaps by a tooth... best he could manage was 130kw

took the car to road & track, they took off the head and discovered that the TDC marking on the cams were between 3 and 5' out and that the previous ECU tune (before nistune) was set to compensate for this - so the current tune isnt quite right - the timing shaun had to adjust to fix the prior poor cam timing needs to get retuned to stock, and im fitting N1's within the next fortnight, so that would also require a remap - in short won't be getting a retune at boostworx till everythings mechanically sorted however I'm back to similar power levels as before and the response is shithouse, loads of flat spots in the power curve - in spite of that, i can hear the turbos spooling up MUCH quicker than before which is always a good sign - in either case, the adjustments to the cam setup at road and track got me back to 180kw while running rich - we're going to fit the n1's and see how the fuel map scales from 0-20 psi as opposed to 0-14psi

to break it down

2007 - bought gtr, 14psi = 210kw

2009 - dynoed after injector replacement, 180kw (put down to rich mix)

2010 - after nistune, 130kw put down to totally munted timing and enrichment map

- cam timing reverted mechanically, 180kw at 10psi with same tune as above

- estimated 210/220kw on stock turbos at 13/14psi (wont bother with this)

- estimated 300kw on N1 turbos at 20psi with correct ignition timing and correct fuel map

more info to come as i mod the bugger

-D

LOL Weez.....you're gonna give yourself a coronary (not a canary) before you get out there................breath in, breath out :)

I just about did last night haha :P

Day went well and car didn't miss a beat all day long!

    • Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers. You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆
    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
