it is simple physics really i would draw you all a picture but should not have to explain myself. if you notice as you raise and lower a car your wheels will move in and out slightly this is the pressure i am refering to on the strut. do any of you back yard mechnics do things the correct way or just bach things out?

As I understand it the strut should neither be in tension nor compression with the car on the ground 'doing nothing'. Ergo, if you remove the bar it would make no difference to the 'sag' (if you like) between the two towers and so your (effective) alignment would be the same.

OTOH if you put your bar on with the car jacked up, the bar would be in some compression when the car is back on the ground, and yep removing the bar would change the (effective) alignment. By how much I dunno. Probably negligible.

you are correct with your first comment if there is no camber and the car is on flat ground... but i also said do not take the tyres off the ground just the weight off them, also the strut will be under slight tension or compression that is the reason for the adjustment bolt on the bar... we dont know how tight or loose his adjustment is unless you have seen the car.

i was trying to give some easy tips rather then just bash it off or get bigger muscles. i would hate to see some of the repairs (botch jobs) done on some of these guys cars.

Lol well to make sure its sharp im testing it out on your brake lines k :P

None of these suggestions have worked by the way... Gonna take it to my mechanic tomorrow, he might give it a go with the rattle gun. Turns out they are on there really tight, its ridiculous. I may have to paint it with it on the car, but thats worst case scenario because it should be able to come off

Lol never thought this question would be the cause for such a big argument. All i want is to get my strut bar off haha

Sorry for hijacking Martin

If you're still having dificulties and are NOR shoot me a PM and I'll come and help you
