Recommended Posts

Though i would add a little information about this, took me a while of searching to dig up these places.

Just got 255/40/17 90% potenzas re050a runflats for $400 balanced and fitted... same type as my mums new mazda 6

Would cost more than $1000 new and theyre about 10 times better than my old federal 595ss

im never going to pay for new again, scoped out 4 places... here they are... easy searching.

I've had my own tyres "go off" before, few burnouts and they simply don't grip like they used too when i used to drag race a fair bit.

hence i stopped burnouts on street tyres, no gain what so ever.

They still had a good 85-80% tread on them too, but became rather dangerous in the wet, i know North End sell that kinda stuff as i've grabbed stuff from there before.

Just because a tyre has tread doesn't mean they are magically better so be very careful

Highly recommend these guys:

I've been there heaps of times when I was younger and didn't have much money. Good guys and you'll get a good deal on tyres that still have 80%+ tread. Normally around 40-50% of the cost of new ones. Not sure whether I would go there now with the Skyline, i'd rather pay a bit more and be 100%sure of what i'm getting, but if you've got a daily or something, i'd recommend it.

Agreed. Just put on Michelin PS2 with 90%thread and don't grip anything like original Michelin PS2

Fawkner Wheels and Tyres sell second hand tyres for $70 each incl fitting and balancing. i got 2 215/45/17 goodyears with 60% and 2 225/45/17 Micillans pilotsport.....but there service is the WORST EVER...thats why i now go to Tyre Experts....much better

might be a silly question but where would you guys recommend going for stretch tyres, as i want to put 235/40 on my 18x10 wheels ( i dont think they are a major stretch?)

as i know some places cant/wont do them.

Try motor sport wheels and tyres on sth gippy hwy in dandy, bought my wheels and the last 2 sets of tyres from there.

all for saving money, but just be careful we don't go giving guys with sub 200+rwkw an option and an idea that's viable and safe to buy $50 255 tyres and think they are perfect. sure there are some accident write off on's etc and some are probably okay, but some are probably rubbish too. just be careful please.

tyrepower hawthorne, ask for mickey and tell him hamish sent ya

235/40/18 on a 10... i can see why a lot of places wouldn't do it.

lol... 235 on a 10 is not that much of a stretch these days, not really legal though :P

why dude?

er... i'm guessing to fit under his guards / drift / have stiffer sidewalls / look cool

I had 235's on R34GTR wheels - and they looked stretched...

put them on a 10" is ohdears...

anyway - as paul said, please be careful, the tyres are cheap FOR A REASON. Just like ebay turbos

    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
    • Brand was ard.   I also threw a brand new battery at it and beefed up the wire from the alternator to battery and added an extra earthing point from the battery
