i have a r32 gts 4door with an rb23det, the old rb20 trans has thrown in the towel, so im looking to put in a rb26trans.

i have rwd, but the rb26 is an awd. is it possible to just take out the center diff or something?

thanks for any answers..

mate just get an rb25det box from an r33, just as strong and already rwd

there is no 'centre diff' in a GT-R; the back of the gearbox has a massive housing on the right side for the ATTESA clutches which drive the small prop shaft back to the front diff. it just works out much easier to just use a RB25T gearbox than to try and modify the GT-R gearbox for use in a RWD floorpan

the strength of both actual gear sets is pretty much the same
