On that note...the video shot by a woman while ACA was doing a study on traffic in the tunnel, where the truck and a Merc changed lanes at the same time, and the truck hit the merc, twisted it sideways, and pushed it along for over a km till the driver of the truck stopped cuz he "heard a scraping noise" because he didnt know hed hit a car...horrifying. And unfortunately something i think about every time i go through the burnley or domain...

couple of points on that article, did you know that the police were investigating that story?? it turns out that the producers car was also in the tunnel and between the two of them they were manipulating the flow of traffic to get the story they wanted, also if you have a look on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNTSSvOYiB0 the merc does what i see a lot of these days, he puts his indicator on to change lanes then turns it off then changes lanes (watch his wing mirror indicator).

Yeah Cassandra! That is how i feel when im near the trucks..

Truck stay in the middle lane, and u are allow change lanes if the truck is going slower then the speed limit. Simple.

Basically the only real blind spot for a truck is on the passenger side next to the front door and a car length or so back from the front door, easy way to tell if your in there blind spot is to look in there mirrors, if you can see then they can see you, from where that merc is i dont think he saw him because he was 2 lanes across.

Without some sort of workable solution truck drivers are going to be hindered by cars and cars are going to be hindered by trucks, unfortunately our government has a habit of sitting in there office and making a decision that a pen pusher that has never been a truck see's as a good solution from a car drivers point of view and is not workable for us so it wont be followed, just like the law that is in place that on a highway of more than 2 lanes trucks are not allowed to use the right hand lane, if one of the other lanes was doing 100 i would be happy to use it and often do but when you 4 lanes of traffic doing 90 becuase everyone wants there own lane im not going to sit behind them and wait.

I think we all knew that would happen, even if it didnt i think you would have to piss a cop off for them to book ou for it.

I think anybody in the right hand lane not doing at least 5km/h over the speed limit should be shot immediately by government employed snipers

people with cruise control who pull into the right hand lane with it set 1km/h faster than the person they are overtaking and then proceed to take 4 hours to get past them should also be shot

that is all

At the same time Nick i dont believe that any driver actually doing the speed limit should be bullied by a speeding driver tailgating them. Theyre trying to do the right thing. fair enough.

So if im in a hurry i change lanes and go around. My pet peeve is people who tailgate me when im already speeding, when in normal traffic.

Brett...while youre making valid points, fear is not a rational thing. I avoid trucks, busses and trains where at all possible. If that means putting the foot down to overtake, i will do so. Just so that i feel safer on the road. Many others are the same.

Also...while i appreciate the points youre trying to make, trucks have tailgated me when i was doing over the speed limit, and over what theyre claimed to be limited to.

This scares the shit out of me if i have to brake. Therefore, i do not feel charitably to these sorts of drivers.

Middle lane... left lane, no real difference. The idea of designated slow vehicle lanes is to allow faster traffic to move on and avoid situations where you may have 3 trucks or 2 trucks and a nanna blocking a whole 3 lane road, ultimately improving congestion conditions. It's not just about getting shitty with doing 40km/h in an 80km/h zone... it's also got to be about relieving some of the pressure on our congested infrastructure.

The same needs to be done for trains and trams. Victoria/Melbourne has expanded too quickly and we do not have the infrastructure to cope.

Cassandra, you should try doing the Melbourne to Sydney/Brisbane run... trucks are crazy scary on that run. They own that road and they don't mind letting you know that.

Yeah I'm referring to freeways/highways... I don't care how fast your going if your in the right lane and someone comes up behind you move over... your not the Police its not your responsibility to ensure people stick to the speed limit and why would you want someone up your arse (so to speak)... move over to let them past then everyone's happy

In normal traffic 60, 70 zones, there's no point in tailgating and getting frustrated as people are often in the right lane to turn right... and unless its 2am your just going to get more traffic or a red light even if you do manage to get past

a big fireball out the exhaust usually backs off any tailgaters... clutch in and bounce it off the limiter a couple of times

If im in the right lane its because my GPS has told me to be. That means, i aint moving.

You got a problem with that, go around.

*decisive nod*

best post of the thread

Do you need a tissue

No

it seems we may have hit a nerve.

If you had i would pissed of and having a go at people and making reference to them have sex with there siblings but i have not.

WOW WOrp3D!! way to pick posts apart.

What do you mean?

I'm with Brett on this one. You gotta have respect for truck drivers and trucks on the road, for without them, we wouldn't have our food and other goods delivered and the country's economy would surely crumble.

While as a general rule trucks are a little slower off the mark, who cares? Just take a chill pill and relax, and don't let it get to you.

Truck drivers do long hours and deal with all the arseholes on the road on a daily basis. Without them we would be f**ked, because they keep the country moving and keep us living the lifestyle to which we have all become accustomed.

Until next time, take care of yourself. And each other.

Sit boo-boo sit. Good dog.

Yes. All the more reason for one of them to accidentally not listen to enough techno or drink enough redbull, fall asleep, and crash into me as im going along my merry way.

I don't trust it and i never have.

    • The sodium acetate, mixed with citric acid, doesn't actually buffer each other. Interestingly though, if you used Sodium Acetate, and acetic acid, THAT becomes a buffer solution. Additionally, a weak acid that can attack a metal, is still a weak acid that can attack a metal. If you don't neutralise it, and wash it off, it's going to be able to keep attacking. It works the same way when battery acid dries, get that stuff somewhere, and then it gets wet, and off it goes again breaking things down. There's a reason why people prefer a weak acid, and it's because they want TIME to be able to be on their side. IE, DIY guys are happy to leave some mild steel in vinegar for 24 hours to get mill scale off. However, if you want to do it chemically in industry, you grab the muriatic acid. If you want to do it quicker at home, go for the acetic acid if you don't want muriatic around. At the end of the day, look at the above thumbnail, as it proves what I said in the earlier post, you can clean that fuel tank up all you want with the solution, but the rust that has now been removed was once the metal of the fuel tank. So how thin in spots is your fuel tank getting? If the magazine on the left, is the actual same magazine as on the right, you'll notice it even introduces more holes... Well, rust removal in general actually does that. The fuel tank isn't very thick. So, I'll state again, look to replace the tank, replace the fuel hanger, and pump, work out how the rust and shit is making it past the fuel filter, and getting into the injectors. That is the real problem. If the fuel filter were doing its job, the injectors wouldn't be blocked.
    • Despite having minimal clothing because of the hot weather right now, I did have rubber gloves and safety glasses on just in-case for most of the time. Yes, I was scrubbing with my gloves on before, but brushing with a brush removes the remaining rust. To neutralize, I was thinking distilled water and baking soda, or do you think that would be overkill?
    • You can probably scrub the rust with a toothbrush or something. After you get the rust off flush well with water to neutralize and you will probably want to also use a fuel tank sealer to keep it from rusting again.
    • The sodium citrate solution is designed to buffer the citric acid to keep it from attacking metal quite so much, the guy that came up with that recipe did a ton of testing on how much metal loss occurs over time and it's nothing crazy unless you forget about it for months:
    • Ohhh I see lol To be honest the main reason why I wanted to start modding is because of a business trip to Japan and Indonesia. I saw many cool and modded cars all throughout in these countries, especially Japan. I myself am of Chinese+Japanese nationality and when living in china (never lived in Japan js my dad side lol) I remember staring at these cars pass by with their loud tacky exhausts and insane wide body kits. And when I went back to Japan, I got even more invested even asking people about their cars and why they modded. Most gave similar answers to what you said but funny enough one guy just said that he saw the need for speed movie being filmed once in Tokyo I think near Shibuya Crossing and got inspired to tune and mod. After that I just started to fantasize on owning a car like that. Also tbh I prefer the R32 over the R34 it's just the R34 is more iconic lol (also apparently better aftermarket support than the R32) and my only goal really is just to make the car mine and make it fun to drive. As much as I love my Cayenne it's pretty bland to drive. Sure the interior is nice and pretty, gives you attention yada yada but I've wanted to experience what it is like to have a car that is truly yours. I suppose thats the goal so far. Haha if you find where I'm from, then sure. Ill help you out on your next "financial decision"
