PowerFC Commander Extension Cable

Has anyone here with an A'PEXi PowerFC and the Commander tried to use a PS2 (as in Wintel PC, not Playstation) extension cable and did it work? Apart from one less pin in the Commander cable they look damn close.

I have been told that they will work. Just snip the pin that gets in the way and go for it.

Technically it should be fine since the PS2 cable is just a straight thru cable. The only thing you would need to be concerned over is making it too long and suffering attenuation or resistance problems. An extra meter wouldnt be a problem.

Phil, thats exactly what I am using at the moment, a Keyboard PS/2 extension cable. Just becareful when you knock out the 'extra' pin. I used a pair of pliers and eventually ripped it out by bending it over and over again.

Just becareful not to knock out other pins though

It makes removing FC Commander a breeze, or hiding from farkin thieves.

Thanks for that Johnny. I ran a PS2 cable this morning.

As well as the 6th pin I had to remove the central locating plastic pin from the male end while on the female end I had to elongate the locating hole. A 1mm drill bit and a bit of care made that a fairly simple job.

Like you said, nice and easy to R&R the commander.
