There are a couple of other threads on this; but yes, it's happened before.

You can either leave it (eventually correcting itself over some nondescript speedhump), give it a bump or dismantle.

When you get to 999,999Km though, I'd definitely get it attended to, because you need the extra 1Km to make it a new car :)

Mine did the same thing, a cog was missing 1-2 teeth. I tried fixing it myself, i broke mine so i had to get a new cluster, i made sure it had teeth on the cogs. But i would suggest taking it to a auto-electrician or asking your local mechanic on a place to take it.
