Hey guys a little late notice but mt gambier is startin up a new autofest. anyone wants to enter i can get you in cheeper if you pm me soon($150 for full entry now gone up to 180 and soon to 220). but it would be good to get the numbers up and meet a few people just for spectators. here are the details i got from my clubs websight......

The Mount Gambier A & H Society Inc, today announced it has secured a major extension for an already popular automotive event, Mount Gambier Autofest & Show N Shine, to be held annually during the last weekend of October, kicking off for the first time in 2009.

Autofest Group together with the support of the South East Street Machines, Mount Gambier A & H Society and the City of Mount Gambier have agreed to continue the longest running Street Machine event, now into its 31st year well into the future.

The organisers of the highly successful Shepparton Springnats Autofest and both the Murray Bridge SA and Corowa NSW Autofest events will establish the new Mount Gambier Autofest and Show N Shine event which will attract estimated crowds of between 15,000 ? 20,000 spectators.

Mount Gambier Showgrounds have been chosen by organisers as the most suitable venue after consideration of sites across the City.

The alcohol free Springnats Autofest has been running in Shepparton for 16 years, while the Murray Bridge Autofest is in its third successful year. The Corowa event also adds an exciting new element to the series of events, which will include Drag Racing, and is sure to bring enthusiasts from across the country.

Mount Gambier Mayor Steve Perryman, recognises the prospects of the Mount Gambier Autofest & Show N Shine and believes it has the potential to be one of the biggest annual events on the City?s already action packed Calendar.

?This is great news for businesses in the City and we really want to see the community support and maximise the benefits of the event,? Mayor Perryman added.

Studies have established that both Murray Bridge and Shepparton?s events provide a multi million dollar economic injection into the community and a conservative estimate of the Corowa Autofest is in excess of $3 million.

The Springnats and Autofest events are all about admiring the best cars in the country with family and friends in an alcohol free environment. Spectators to the event will witness some of the most powerful cars compete side by side in events such as:

? ?Go-To-Whoa? ? fast paced action where timed vehicles compete over 140 metres and must stop on a designated point;

? Motokana ? fast paced obstacle course action, set against the clock;

? Show ?N? Shine ? competitors show their restoration expertise and the beauty of their cars;

? Dyno Challenge ? see cars go through their gears in a stationary position on the dyno machine;

Organiser Mr Les Adams said that he is pleased with what the Mount Gambier location has to offer and that the local stakeholders have been great to work with.

?We are grateful for the support which has made it possible, they really made us analyse every aspect of the event and applied very strict criteria.?

?We foresee our relationship with the South East Street Machines, Mount Gambier A & H Society and the Mount Gambier Council will be a long-term partnership,? he said.

?We have a long successful history with our events in other locations and the fact that there is strictly no alcohol is a major factor in that. Everywhere there is an Autofest they are happy to have us and we?re very pleased to be coming to Mount Gambier?, Mr Adams said.

Mr Adams continued ?Autofest is a car festival especially for modified cars, but restored and original cars are also welcome and catered for. A highlight of the event would be the fiercely competitive Burnout Title.?

?We usually get anywhere between 50 to 100 entrants for that event alone,? he said.

The Mount Gambier Autofest & Show N Shine will be promoted nationwide in Australasian car magazines, Trading Post as well as extensive television and radio campaigns.

End.

as it says its gonna be a anual event so maybe next year could do a SAU or stagea group entry.....

    • I'm firmly on the "zero compliance is good compliance" for FUCAs. I'd be looking to solid metal joints even if the primary reason for having them is because they facilitate the twist in the arm. I have never been more happy with the way the front suspension behaves than I have since I got rid of the FUCA bushes. Even the thin little (short lived) poly bushes in the Whiteline adjustables have too much compliance for my liking. It probably won't be long before I have sphericals nearly everywhere, probably including both top and bottom arms in the rear, and I'll start complaining about the increased costs for dental work. But I will be enjoying the driving more, I'm sure.
    • Plus, you'll get great experience in bedding in pads!
    • I have offset Nismo brackets so the fact the gktechs can pivot is less important to me. I have 170mm JIC arms with bushings - but they provide no adjustment and I'm not sure whiteline eccentric bushings will fit them (I don't want to ruin the bushings currently in them to find out). Ideally I want something with bushings + adjustment; hence why I'd like to find a pair of these. Unfortunately they aren't easy to find.
    • @Vee37 How much do you really care about finding these pads again? If your pads are quiet, work well and produce minimal dust, really isn't that enough? If you are set on finding the exact pads again, I suppose I'd do something like this -  Visit your local Jax, find out what brand of pads they carry. If the Jax workshop you previously went to had the pads on the shelf, then you can almost guarantee it will be of said brand.   I'm guessing you don't have the receipt for the previous work and pads. Can you visit a Jax workshop and see if they can look up your previous job to see what pads were fitted?  Still no luck? Put your stalker hat on, find the staff that used to work at the Jax store and ask them. Talk to local workshops, try to find out where the mechanics went to. Talk to Jax workshops, maybe they relocated to another workshop. When it comes to mechanics, its a small world. You'd be surprised how easy it is to track someone down. If these ideas don't work, shit will start getting crazy very quickly.... You could find out every brand and model of pad that fits that car... and try them individually ticking each off the list if it wasn't the one you were looking for.... If you go down this path your going to want to learn how to swap pads yourself, it is very easy, takes minimal tools and space. If you have room to park the car you have room to swap the pads. Plus you have the advantage of making sure all the brake hardware goes back in so they won't squeal!
