i know the cops that drive dibbie vans cant defect you, iv been pulled over by them had chat to bout my car ect...

and they said to me they cant defect my car as there not traffic patrol. they even checked the height of my car and said it was to low!

they were cool cops, they told me the only reason the pulled me over was cause i didnt have my number plate mounted.(fresh paint job and was on the windscreen)

HAHAHAAA!!!! LOL @ Dibbie Van!!! Dude they can defect you, any cop can if they want. Just because they arent' traffic cops don't mean diddley. It's like saying a chef can't make you a hot dog because it's fast food, or I can't play golf because I've never played before. Ok they are pretty average examples but you get the point. Oh wait I got a good one, like saying that a CFA firefighter can't put out a fire in the suburbs because it's not in the bush... Ok I'm giving up now...

LOL @ Dibbie Van!!

Grats on lying on the internet, feel cool now? No cop would have said that and yes ANY Cop can defect you.

It's one of car enthusiasts biggest gripes.... it is completely within ANY cops power to defect a car as it drives off a car lot BRAND NEW. He doesn't need to know anything about cars, he can literally say that doesn't look right and slap a canary on it.

Double post ftw!

spoke to my mechanic and got my exhaust replaced to the standard one.

borrowed a standard gear knob from a lancer

as for the alignment i was told that vicroads wont even know whether you do it or not.

ive got a RWC and going for inspection tomoz hope everythinig turns up just good.

will see how it goes and will post up here.

cheers

went to vicroads today the guy didnt even bother to look at my car.

all he did was marking on the papers (defect notice and rwc) and then walk to my car and take the defective vehicle paper off. (less than 3 mins)

ive been pulled over for more than 10 times now (i live in the city) and this is the first time i got defected.

hope this record wont bring any extra troubles to me in the future

cheers

hehe you got lucky.

I've had that happen, but i didn't want to get your hopes up as i've also had them go fully over the car as well to check.

Depends how busy they are/where you go etc.

That defect won't cause you any issues in the future mate, no drama's there.

one thing that annoys me sometimes ive only occured this twice is when the police officer doesnt tick or state on the paper whether a RWC is required or not and you go to vicroads not looking at the notice because the cop told you that you didnt require one etc.. end up going to vicroads and them refusing to clear it as it doesnt state if one is required or not. then you have to travel all the way to the cop station and get the cop to clarify and resign if one is needed.. theres my 2cent rant lol

when i had my ute, i got defected for too low and having a side mount s/c on.

the defect stated that 1. must obtain 100mm ground clearance. 2. s/c must comply with ADR. plus the defect was a major so i needed a RWC.

anyways, took the s/c off, jacked it up and got a RWC. went to vic roads and the lady checked my height but didnt check the s/c!!! i asked her "arent you going to look under the bonnet for the s/c" and she goes "nah its ok you have a RWC"

!!!!!! i could of left the s/c on!!!

so i guess vic roads dont really care, as long as u get a RWC

When I last got a major defect, went to Vicroads with my RWC and the lady didn't even bother checking the car just cleared it on the spot. I can't help but think that the fact it was 4.30pm on a Friday had something to do with it.

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
