Just got the car a couple of weeks ago. At first it only seemed to make the sound when the car was cold, and as soon as i had reversed out the driveway it stopped. Now it seems to be making the sound whenever i push the clutch in and are changing between 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears. Weirdest thing is that it doesn't make the sound all the time just sometimes. Theirs also a burning smell if you jump out the car after driving. As for describing the sound its like a dull squealing, not particularly loud or anything. Also sound stops when you engage a gear.

Anyway if you guys have any ideas at all or could just confirm that's it going to be something that's not too expensive to fix that would be awesome.

Sounds like your throwout bearing. Depends how bad the sound is, my old S13 used to have a noisy bearing but went away when it was warm . Take it to your mechanic, you may as well upgrade your clutch cos you would be looking at the same labour(just read Burning smell. is your clutch slipping)

I have the same sound too everytime my clutch is in, but the sound is worst especially on gear 2. I guess thats just the clutch burning a bit but anyways its good if you replace your clutch every year to ensure it wont burn aheheh

How long is a piece of string?

Noise will usually get worse and worse before the thing shits itself. If it's just a dull whine for now then you might be safe for a couple thousand km but realistically it can collapse anytime it pleases. Leave it too long and you might start damaging the hydraulic release.
