Creaking Front Left

Hey guys,

My r34 has developed a creaking sound when I turn the steering wheel left. It sounds like its coming from the front left wheel area, any ideas? Is it a cheap fix? (fingers are crossed lol).

could be lots of things. I just went through all this with my 32R. Check out my thread for a full rundown of it.

I'd say could be balljoint, rack ends, bushes or springs to get you started.

It was only doing it in the high temperature of mid-wednesday. Does that narrow it down? Should I be regularly oiling something in the suspension/steering/axle area?

high speed turning?

low speed turning?

tight turns?

what suspension mods have been done to the car?

It's mainly low speed turning and carpark manoeuvring. It does it intermittently (which is annoying).

As far as I know there are no suspension mods, but the guy I bought it from got it as a mid-life crisis toy and didn't know a thing about the car. The back end looks higher than other r34s I've seen around.

Could it have anything to do with the spacers on the wheels? Or the irritating fact that the front tyres are different?

spacers = Wheel bearings --- ?

Shockys ?-------- mine gave of a load of small funny (not) intermitant noises from knocks to groans at slow /manouvering speeds, had a couple of leaking shockys (1 front 1 rear) put in new all good again.

I'm having the exact same issue, when turning the wheel left.

But before i go out and put new shocks - does it actually solve the issue?

It seems to be getting worse (as in louder) but the issue is still intermittent for low speed left turns/parking.

I've already changed the power steering fluid (Transmax Z), thinking old fluid would be the issue, but it has made no difference.

What else could it be?

Now you dig way old post,but that's cool to me,try to check it out your upper control arms,that was a culprit in my R33...i raised the height and changed the upper control arm,all creaking noise gone.Otherwise used to have all the time whenever going over the driveways or speed breakers or hump's...may be help you out so try to check height and upper control arms...

My intermittent noise was coming from my ball joint. Cheap fix.

was intermittent for ages then stopped, drove it for 4hrs on a highway, crossed a cattle grid then the noise came back.
